went to the local gun store and i'm trying to decide which one to get they all feel good in my hand. Open to any suggestions as to why i should choose one over the other. I think they are very overpriced here like everything else around here. The glocks are in the 650.00 range and the sig 220 is in the 750 range:(. What would be a fair price to pay, any suggestions on a reputable internet site to buy from i have a local ffl that will charge 25.00 for his fee.

I've owned all three.

you choice depends on your need and your collection.

The Sig P220 is a very accurate and reliable 45. But it's a single stack and Sig never quite has fixed the rusting and wear problems on their P-series guns. Expensive too.

Had a Glock 30 for CCW and range fun but after getting a G19/32/26/33, the G30 was just too thick for my IWB holster. More comfortable to carry a 357 SIG gun with better ballistics for BGs.

Decided I wanted a range and secondary home defense weapon. Sorry but I grab the Rem 870 first at night when I hear abump! But the G21 is more accurate at the 15/25/50 yard lines than the G30 and handles the hi caps just fine. And has an accessory rail for a tactical light.

For me, the full sized Glocks feel the best. Longer sight radius and better recoil absorption and they're the hardest to find.

Key:

Call around for a factory refurbished or police trad in G21 for about $450 with a pair of hi caps. GlockTalk has several places to buy affordably just search there.

But the G21 is the one.

Greeting's My Friend,

For absolute reliability under any circumstance, I would
have to pick the Sig P220.:) A DA first shot, with quick SA follow
up shot's; make this one out standing pistol. Plus, it's
"combat accuracy" is as good as it get's; unless you want to
spend a couple of thousand dollar's on a tricked out 1911.

Best Wishes,

This got me concerned, so I rushed down to the safe. Whew! No rust yet! But maybe that explains why SIG came out with a stainless version!

I have a SIG P220. These pistols have been on the market since 1975. If they had "rusting and wear problems" I don't think they could get $700+ for them - do you? It is a superbly accurate service pistol, extremely accurate, nice trigger, and lighter and more compact than an M1911A1 clone.
I paid $702 for a Nickle slide version (even here in PRM), sounds like you might want to shop around.

:D

Let me see now, I've owned my P220 for over 22 years and for most of that time it has stayed in the same holster. I'm not the most diligent when it comes to cleaning my weapon (although I do knock most of the mud off of it from time to time). Regardless, I haven't seen any rust yet and the finish looks the same as it did when I got it. Maybe it was the WD40 I sprayed on it by mistake back in 1981....

For reliability and accuracy, you can't do better out of the box than the 220. It is still a standard the others shoot for.

And now to the great rust problem. I had heard the same stories about SiG's and RUST so for the first decade or so I really watched them closely. After that I kinda went on to other things.

Despite what GASTON might think, rust is not a problem.

In decideing between the two manufacturers, the biggest functional difference will be the grip angle. Before you decide, shoot a GLOCK and a SiG. Just holding them in the store won't tell you too much. Then get the one that works best for you.

My NIB Sig 220 cost $619.00 on gunbroker.com.
Do a search there, and you can beat that 700 bucks VERY easily.

You're kind of talking apples and oranges here. The Glock is a fine service weapon. It's stone-reliable, combat accurate, and easily disassembled. The Sig is pretty, accurate, and also reliable, but I don't think as reliable as a Glock.

Having said that, since it doesn't sound like you're going to CC, I'd get the SIG! I don't even own one, but my dad's department issues Glock 21's, so I've shot them. The SIG is beautiful and an investment. Even if you needed it for self-defense, it'd be a perfect choice. If it's something of a range gun, maybe go with the Glock as it will have a longer service life. But my overall recommendation would be the Sig.

Glock 30 all the way baby!!! Yeah. Very accurate, compact, 10+1 rounds of .45, reliable as can be, easy to operate, dissasemble, clean, etc... The glock 30 gets my vote, the 21 in a close second. Sigs are very good too, I found them to be just a tiny bit more accurate than my glocks, but I don't like the heavy double action pull for the first round. You won't go wrong with any of these guns.

I owned a P220 and a P226 that I had to regularly oil or they DID develop rust spots on the slide and frame and I had to rub them out.

Personal experience.

FWIW, the G30 is the most concealable but I still prefer the G21.

I like big pistols if I have to have a pistol. But I don't like Glockzilla's thick grip.

Buy the 21 and send it to Robar. Robbie will cut it down nicely.

I'd vote for SIG hands down.

Another factor, in addition to comfort, is the often overlooked, pointability. I'm going to sell my Glock 30 because when I naturally point it, it lines up ramped up at 10-15 degrees.
My SIGs on the other hand are dead on.

1)SIG 220
2)Glock 21
3)Glock 30

I just traded for a SIG 220 and I'm dang happy with it.

I made the mistake of selling a Glock 21, it's on my list of guns I wish I hadn't sold.
I like the SIG better than I liked the G21.

Glock 21. All the way. Goes bang every time. Accurate. Better price than the Sig. The finish wont wear out after you stick it in a holster a couple of times. (I'm exaggerating, but the Sig finish isn't the greatest for the price you pay.)

I had a Glock 21 for a couple of years then the "springs" got tired and the pistol was a choke artist. Had an older Sig P-220 and it never suffered from this malady. Sigs rule....Glocks drool.
Are Sigs pricy? Yes. But then again it's the finest DA pistol on the market today. Best, John

Sig based on the 3 you asked about. The sig is more accurate, has a better trigger and is reliable. Kinda an apples to oranges comparison though.
