Glock 20 conversion to 9x23 Winchester

I have seen references to a conversion offered by John Ricco at Classic Pistol: switching a Glock 20 or 29 10mm to 9x23 Winchester.

Has anyone had any experience with such a conversion?

I wonder what mags he uses? On the .40 to 9mm conversions you just use a 9mm mag, but there is no narrow feed lipped mag for the big glocks.

Handy,

A lot of the time, 9mm will work fine in .40 mags. I know that 9mm will load into my 10mm mags. I just loaded 17 rounds of 9mm into a brand new Glock 20 mag and it seems to be ok.

Good to know. I realized that some earlier .40s actually used 9mm mags, but didn't know if that would be problematic with all the extra overall length AND the Glocks flexible feed lips.

I really have to wonder if the conversion really involves anything more than barrel and lighter spring. Still, short stroking might be a problem with such a heavy slide.

It does seem to let the rounds loose sooner than I would expect. I don't know how reliable it would be. Of course, the 9x23 is a longer cartridge so that might compensate some.

I believe the conversion doesn't require different magazines, but I haven't been able to find much out. I haven't heard back from Classic Pistol yet.

Back druing the Hi Cap ban, I heard of some industrious souls using 10 rd .40 mags as 12-13 round 9mm mags

Never tried it myself...ymmv...don't come cryin to me when it doesn't work :D

I'm one of those industrious souls who used G23 mags for 9mm. I'm also one of those industrious souls who conformed the feed lip separation to 9mm specs. (Specs found on Custom Glock Racing's website)

Ever try to bend a Glock magazine's feed lips? If they're flexible, it's news to me.

9X23? isn't that the bottle necked cartridge? Or is that 9X25? I've seen guys use 10mm brass and bottleneck it to 9mm.

Nevermind I answered my own question. I stayed up too late. It's 9X25mm.

9X25 shouldn't be a problem in a 10mm mag.

Does anyone know if they make a 9x25 conversion barrel for a glock 20? That would be one more neat thing I can do with mine.

When I spoke to the folks at Classic pistol they told me that the barrel, recoil spring and extractor were changed.
They said the factory mags were fine.

The 38 Super has a slightly larger rim than the case so it tends not to do well in high cap magazines, hence the 9X23 which has a smaller case rim. What will they think of next????????????????
