GLOCK 19 vs GLOCK 17 in durability

Is GLOCK 19 as durable as GLOCK 17? One of this two pistols will be in my property soon. They are IMHO the BEST.

I believe they identical in build and both of course the same caliber. The only difference is the barrel and grip length. I don't think you can go wrong with either one. Both WILL last.

I dealt with some of this when an LEO/firearms trainer. We had some reliability problems with very early 19s around 1985. I felt then and still do that the 17s are just a little bit better in that department. On the other hand, my daughter's 19 purchased new around 1992 has been running like a Timex. I think they are now both excellent guns but still favor the 17 on principle...

A rental range near me has had the tang on the slide where the recoil spring assembly fits break off once or twice on a G19. I wonder if it's a freak occurance because I never heard of it anywhere else.

Some of my buddies shoot their 19s to death and never have a problem. They stake their lives on 19s.

The 17 is the original, absolute most reliable Glock of all Glocks from all I hear, so from that standpoint every other Glock is downhill from there.

I would feel comfortable with either of them.

Glock, Sig, Colt, S&W, Beretta etc., don't make junk. They will outlast any of us.
You can do a "survey" on any model such firms put out and get mixed reviews.

Some folks seem to find the 19's a little more accurate or so they say. I own both a 17 and a 19 and the beauty of the 19 is its compact size, its the best compromise, just the right size with plenty of rounds in the mag. Its my favorite off duty gun.
