Glock 19 or UzI Eagle for wife to carry

I just got back from taking my wife to look for something she can carry concealed. She narrowed down the choices to the Glock 19 or the UZI Eagle 9mm. Both have the factory night sights. She needed to find something that wasn't too hard to rack the slide on. Both of these were easier to slide than some of the others we looked at. The price on the glock is $549.00 with the night sites. The price on the Uzi Eagle is $349.00 with the night sites. I was wondering if the glock was worth going the difference in price for? I like the smoother profile of the glock . What kind of accuracy can we Expect from these two pistols? Any other recomendations we should consider in this size range?

Which one was easier to rack the slide? How is she going to carry? Those questions should decide her choice right there.

I know the Glock is a great pistol. I know nothing of the Uzi.

I have both and my wife, mother and sister all shoot and like the G19 better.
The only reason why I bought the eagle was the fact that it came with high cap mags.

Which of the UZI Eagles are you looking at, the frame mounted or slide mounted safety version and is it the compact or full size? The slide mounted version is better for people with less experiences as the safety drops the hammer. On the other version you have to drop the hammer manually, not a good thing for users without a lot of experience. Are you looking at the DAO? I like them both a lot. The UZI Eagle compact is a very size efficient pistol and is only a tad heavier than the Glock. Some people refer the more ergonomic grip of the UZI Eagles to the Glock's, but that's a personal thing. One thing about polymer pistols is that they're more suceptible to limp wristing, a major concern if your wife doesn't intend to practice a lot.

The Glock 19 is a modern classic. I cannot think of a more perfect gun for concealed carry for the average person.
It is rust proof, lightweight, carries lots of firepower, is easy to operate and reliable. You can't go wrong with it.

Keep your eyes out for a used G19! They rarely ever wear out and Glock will replace any worn or broken parts rather inexpensively. I'm looking for the same gun now. Good luck

Get the Glock 19 with night sights, its reliable and totally rust free. High cap mags are relatively abundant and the Glock will last with minimal care. There is no longer lasting pistol made. Just ask yourself this, why does Glock have over 65 percent of the Police market in this country. They build reliable affordable guns...7th

The Glock "Tennifer Finish" is more rust resistant than stainless steel. I am a Glock LEO Armorer and I have never seen a rusty Glock. Have you. I'll bet not..7th

Do a test...go to your gun shop and look for Glock 19 holsters, accessories and doodads. Then repeat the same for an UZI Eagle.

I got rid of my SIG P239 in favor of a G19, and it's the best gun buy decision I've ever made. There are plenty of high-quality guns out there, the Eagle being one of them, but the Glock is less complicated, more durable, lighter, easier to clean and much more popular...which directly affects availability of spare parts, magazines, holsters etc. You get the idea. The G19 is probably the best compact 9mm on the market...less fancy and uglier than a SIG or an Eagle, but far more practical.

Sorry, this doesn't fly in today's world. If you need holsters for an UZI Eagle get on the Web and contact any number of high quality and reasonably priced custom makers like www.waldonholsters.com and you're set for leather. As well preban standard capacity 15 rounds mags are easilly found and a lot cheaper than for Glocks. Yes there are less useless gizmos like the Plug avaiable for the UZI Eagle but who needs these things anyhow?

Glock 19. Think of it as an investment. If you want to upgrade, get out of guns (gasp!), or need some quick dough, you can get back close to what you paid for it.

The Uzi Eagle looks cool, but doesn't shoot as well. The big thing is that few gunshop/pawnshop owners want to stuck with that gun. Years from now, the Glock 19 will still be a high-demand classic.

Try the Glock 23, see if the extra kick throws her off. Same as the 19 except it shoots .40. If you have that much space in you grip and are limited to 10 rounds, why not fill it with lead?

I don't know how much experience your wife has with hand guns, so I can not speak to the comfort level she has with firearms, but it doesn't get much easier then a Glock. I personally own a G19 and like it very much. There is virtually no manual of arms. In the types of scenarios that women seem to face, it seems to me the more simple, the better. Having said that, the baby eagle is one of the most pleasant, comfortable handguns to shoot. It is accurate, recoil is minimal, and once properly set for double action, easy to shoot. It is not as easy to carry as the 19, but minimaly so. If you have the bucks, I'd go with the the Glock. If not, the baby eagle is a heck of bargain.
