Glock 17C Compensated GEN 3

We saw quite a few of the "C" Glocks come thru F.S. When i taught there.

I was never a fan. The porting does help keep the (small) muzzle flip down. The downside is the blast that comes out the ports is significant. In low light the flash out of those ports is pretty bad. If shot from a close contact position that same blast goes right into your face/up your nose/into your eyes.

We actually had an Instructor shoot a demo with a "C" model (23c, IIRC) and had a piece of jacket spit out of the port and cut his neck pretty good. No real damage but a good bit of blood on his shirt. Great dramatic example of the problem with the design on a fighting handgun.

As a range toy it might be ok. I think that recoil (esp in 9mm) is easy enough to control with grip and stance

I have a 19C and like it fine. It does have a noticeable recoil reduction over a gen 3 19, but not so much vs a gen 4. It IS noticeably louder and a smidge harder to clean. I did some testing in low light and found it didnt blind me anymore than a regular Glock 19. Fun gun, but I'd probably prefer a Gen 4.

17C should be similar.

I have a 19C and the only thing I've compared it to is my SIL's 26. The 19C has noticeably less recoil with the same ammo, but don't know if that's attributable to the size difference or not. Yeah, like jr24 said, there's a bit more cleaning at the muzzle ports, but no biggie.

I've shot a gen 3 19c. I enjoyed it. The extra blast and pressure you experience combine with the reduced muzzle flip is actually kind of neat. I agree with Sharkbite that it could be a nice range toy. I wouldn't use it for anything serious though beyond competition and fun. I'd imagine the 17c would be even easier to shoot than the 19c. If I had money to burn and was itching to buy something and found one for a great price I might consider buying one... but it's not something that's on my list.
