Glock 17

It all depends on your style of clothes, your holster, your body type. I regularly carried my 17 AIWB and with a good holster/belt, had very minimal printing. The biggest thing is to not keep touching it because you think it's moving or printing.

The truth is, most people don't look for guns. Especially in the AIWB region. People don't typically stare at other people's crotch. Some people don't even notice when others are open carrying.

I open carried a Sig 226 today, I don't even think any body paid attention.
DubC is right, no one thinks, ''oh he has a gun under his shirt\jacket.

In the wintertime here in VT, I carry my G17 in a Glock plastic OWB holster at 3 o'clock. Condition O. My coat covers it. In the spring/summer/fall I carry it IWB at 11 o'clock with no holster. Condition III.

It is agreed few people pay attention. They are all staring at their phones. So, yes, as above, nice OWB in cold weather under a jacket. In hot weather, IWB. There are many good IWB holsters on the market now.

Note that Vermont neither issues nor requires a permit to carry a firearm on one's person, openly or concealed.

Reconsider that as it is foolish (to be blunt) on many dimensions that have been discussed many times.

This may start a large discussion again. The point is that unholstered carry is insecure and that an unchambered gun is not fast to get into action. Spare us all please, the Israeli cliches - that has been debunked years ago as a method to deal with untrained folks. Then it became a PR tool for some trainers.

Otasan,
You sound like a nervous and un-informed carrier.

USE A HOLSTER!!!!!!!!!
Chamber a round in regular carry. It's the simplest way to get your pistol into a defensive encounter in a hurry if you have to, and you can't always count on having your off hand clear to cycle the thing.

If you're nervous about a fully loaded pistol, either don't carry one or switch to a revolver.
If you're nervous about people noticing your Glock, either dress to cover it, or don't carry it.

I'm stating this bluntly because it needs to be stated bluntly.
I carried a 17 off & on for several years.
ALWAYS IN A HOLSTER & ALWAYS FULLY LOADED, secure against all activities planned & unplanned, and instantly ready to go if needed.

It's not THAT big.
If you think it is, switch to a smaller pistol.
IN A HOLSTER & FULLY LOADED.

If you can't tolerate the self-imposed angst over a loaded pistol with no safety, get a pistol WITH a safety.
AND CARRY IN A HOLSTER, FULLY LOADED.

I am not a nervous or uninformed carrier. I have been CCWing my G17 since 1990. I have seen all sorts of scenarios where I was glad to be wearing my G17.

I carry my G35 some in the cooler months. No one notices it.
Just dress around your carry gun.
I have lite vests and heavier warmer vests.
I have lite and heavier jackets.
I have Jack Shirts in Lite and heavier cloth.
I wear my shirt tails out part of the time.

No one notices except some one carrying themselves. I see LE printing more than anyone else, and I know what to look for.

How do you know that no-one notices?

You’re asking him to prove something that’s impossible to prove.

If you’re worried someone notices then either change your method of carry or carry a smaller pistol. Those are your two options. Or come to grips with the notion that some people might notice.

I had someone call the police on me one fine day when they noticed a bulge.

What's your purpose in this thread?
If you're nervous about your gun, you've been given solutions.

If you just want to ask silly questions & argue, you might not like the responses.
Not interested in holding your hand through the process of carrying your Glock.

Someone seeing you carry is not in itself a crime assuming you are legally allowed to do so.

Again, consider a different method of carry or carry a smaller pistol. The options I detailed above still stand. Unless you plan to carry a micro pistol I can think of no way to completely guarantee no one will ever notice depending on the experience of the person observing.
