Glock 17 vs 19 pros and cons

What are the pros and cons of the 9mm 17 over the 19 model glock? I shot the 19 and really liked it. Thanks

The G19 is easier to conceal. Otherwise they are the same pistol. Both great guns. I own them both. The G17 is my fun gun. The G19 is my everyday gun.

Post ban mags both hold 10 rounds. Pre ban is only a two round difference.

If I had to choose I would go for the G19.

But I don't have to choose so I own both.

Just personal preferences mostly.

I don't really like the 17. To me it seems like I'm looking down the deck of an aircraft carrier. Just a long square runway.

It also seems absurd to use a weapon that large with just 10 rounds. . High Capacity mags are great if you can afford them and can own them. Otherwise it's like having a bull with no balls.

Erm, what? I sit here, holding two Glock factory 15 rounders for a G19, and you confuse me ;)

15 rounds for the pre-Clinton mags. The G17 has a longer sight radius and longer barrel, therefore more potential for accuracy. I say "potential" because some people shoot the 19 just as well, or even better than the 17. On paper, however, the 17 *should* be more accurate. At least, at longer target distances.

The 19 is much better suited to concealed carry. If you ask Glock owners what the best model Glock is, you will get many people saying the Glock 19 is the best there is. Probably because it's a great carry gun, not too small like the 26 but not big like the 17. Just right :)

Of course, if you ask me, the Glock 21 is the best Glock out there. If I hadn't discovered HK, I'd still have my trusty G21.

The standard capacity mags for the G17 hold 17 rounds. That's why the "Pre ban is only a two round difference" comment. Both are now shipped with 10-rounders, and that's all you can buy "new".

I own a G19, and I think it is possibly the best 9mm on the market, at least for me. It has great capacity (up to 15 rounds), is easily concealed, and I can get chest cavity shots on man-sized silhouettes out to at least 50 yards (never tried farther).
