My brother has a glock 17 and recently fired it.He put about 100 rds. though it and now the front sight is loose. There does not seem to be any way to tighten it.Is it normal for the front sight to shoot loose?Any help i would be greatful.Thank You

If it's the cheap, plastic factory sight, just remove it with a pair of pliers and replace it with a good aftermarket, steel night sight. I just put a Trijicon on my new G30. Cost for the front sight only was about $35.

I had the same problem with my G19 when I replaced the factory sights with meprolites. I had the dealer from whom I bought the sights install them. When the front sight loosened up I just took it back and had them put plenty of locktite on it and remount it.

2000 rounds through it later, It's just fine.

Good luck
Pete

The factory sights suck. They are all plastic and are held on much like an axe handle. There is literally a plastic wedge that is pinned up throught the sight. Take your slide off and look for yourself. The trijicons are much better. I consider them a must for any glock. The front sight is steel and held in place with a steel pin. I've personally seen more than one factory sight get hot and fall off while being shot.

The Trijicon and Meprolight front sights currently being installed by Glock are staked on, like the plastic sights. The replacement front sights like the Trijicon that I just received from Brownell's are attached with a hex screw. If one uses the recommended 271 Loctite, it won't come off.
