Glock 17 + Cow s***

I swear that man gets dumber every day. If you take one of his classes he will tell you that 1911 .45 Auto's are the only guns that will win a fight, then he will turn around and write about how tough a Glock pistol is. (Like we need him to tell us.) If he truly believes that the 9mm is not a manstopper, then what does it matter how tough a Glock is to him? He has a great deal of money, some old ideas and very little credibility with me.

In Mr. Taylor's Defense.....

There is something to be learned from someone with his experience (but no, you are not required to believe it all...).

I started a thread a week back about this magazine article. The point is that the Glock is a special pistol. Very simple and elemental. They work.

Perhaps Chuck is onto something. After all, many LEO's and government agents routinely encounter flatulent cows nowadays. It's virtually an epidemic.

As an aside, I've always kind of wondered how my G19 would handle being dunked in a big pile of bat guano. :D

Blades, Chuck Taylor Dumb? If Chuck is Dumb then you must be ?Have had the extreme pleasure of attending a good # of Chuck's Course's in the last few years. He has never said "....1911 .45 Auto's are the only guns that will win a fight...." Also he does not "...have a great deal of money........" either.
I don't think you've ever taken one of his courses or met the man?
You clearly have a bias and an "attitude" towards him.
Maybe you should comunicate your "opinion's" directly to Chuck?
He does answer all his own e-mail. Please feel free to send Chuck a note via his site www.chucktaylorasaa.com
Feel certain many would like to hear a summation of that exchange.

I have his books and have communicated with him on some issues. He was very polite and prompt in his responses. CT has never struck me as dumb or rich. I don't recall reading or hearing him say that 1911 45's are the only handgun worth anything. If you're in the business long enough you will most likely PO a few people for one reason or another.

SALTWATER? for 6 monthes? And it worked?

I have no previos qualms with Taylor ( Except that he wrote for G&A if I remember correctly), But I have a hard time believing it!

i have fired over 9000 rds per year thru my 17 since '88 and have rebarrelled it an replaced a few internal parts but i wouldn't try to shoot any gun that sat in water for 6 months and if it had manure in it it would get cleaned first!!!!!

Why? I know I am relatively new to semi-auto's, but what is the point of soaking a gun in salt water, covering it in cow**** and then firing it? Strange reliability test... but then i am a newbie...

I can't say I care to much for Chuck Taylor either. His opinions are often contrary to his writings in other magazines... His conclusions are often questionable. His logic is often flawed. As a trainer - personally I'ld rather take a class from Plus P, if any of you guys remember him.

Maybe as a commando you would hide in the ocean, and then come ashore and disguise yourself as a giant pile of cow poop to fool the enemy??

Maybe he was pulling our leg for laughs?

I bet he rec'd some e-mail on that one!!!

Ridiculous "endurance" tests are entertaining but by and large a bunch of bull pucky. I've ridden ATV's all over Washington State with P-220's, a USP45, and numerous revolvers. The pistols were in beltslide holsters and absolutely covered with dirt after a ride and performed perfectly. I'm not going to run over my P-220 with anything, thank you very much. I'm not going to throw my pistols in a pile of snow or cow dung. All my pistols have performed perfectly in the "real" world and that's all I require. Just my thoughts, J. Parker
