Globe or colored front sight on a fighting rifle?

Has anyone used colored plastic front post or a globe sight (with or without crosshairs) on a social rifle like the AR?

Nope. But my Spanish mauser FR-8 came with the front site painted white -- very handy. I'm thinking about doing the same to my M1A.

Good question Oleg. I'm contemplating some higher visibility sight sets for many of my rifles. I wonder if it's better to go with day-glow plastic or a real (and expensive) tritium type night site.

I have the dayglo on my mak90 and it helps. I am curious as to the down sides to it.

I have Trijicon tritium sights on a Sig P225 (9mm pistol) and I can not imagine that that sight would be worth much on a rifle ... maybe they make some bigger (brighter) ones especially for rifles?

I think the idea of the plastic ones sounds pretty good, I worry about the durability, but I guess the hood on an SKS would protect it OK. Durability is the only negative that I can think of.
