Hello, I was given the .38 from a friend..the gun was her dad's service revolver..he is really sick and in a nursing home and she didnt want the gun in her house anymore. Not sure if gun is registered in PA but we are all Pa residents. what do i have to do to make sure transfer is legal?..not really into going through the hassel of a FFL dealer and all that. is it simple as filling out a BOS?

is it simple as filling out a BOS?

Yes it is. Bill of sale or a letter stating in duplicate it is a gift. Both parties sign it and each gets a copy. Covers the gifter and giftee

In PA, all handgun transfers must go through a FFL dealer unles you are direct family. Gift or not, does not have anything to do with it.

Goes to show you how stupid this law is in PA. ... to think they want to make this a national law (universal background checks)??

The same would apply if I wanted to give a handgun to one of my brothers since the gun would come from out of state..... FFL dealer.
