I think we need to get off the Glock thing and start calling Ruger and all the other American Gun Companies thank you for standing by us. Can somone post which companies are truely American because I assure you, they will be the last standing.

I have read references to Ruger's problems on TFL, but I don't know what they are. Can someone fill in the details?

Bill Ruger supported the high cap magazine ban in exchange for the Mini 14 from not being named a semi automatic assault weapon.

dZ

And in exchange for the hicap limit being set at 10 rds, which happened to be the capacity of Ruger's bestselling autos. Glock was killing them at the time and capacity was a selling point.

Ruger was also the only American gun manufacturer to publicly support the Brady Bill. Neal Knox's web site used to have a bunch of damning information about Bill Ruger, including descriptions of some alarming conversations Bill had with Neal. Yeah, Neal has his own problems, but selling out to the feds isn't one of them.

S&W is a run by a bunch of traitors, all right, but both S&W and Colt are merely following the path blazed by Bill Ruger.

In 1989, Bill Ruger Sr. wrote a letter to every congress-critter asking for a total ban on any magazine with a magazine capacity of over 15 rounds. No grandfathered pre-ban, just plain no magazines allowed with over 15 round capacity (turn 'en in folks). Seeing how they couldn't pass that law, it was shelved until 1994 when "it's a crime, Bill" was passed. Ruger layed the ground work for the high priced mags we have to pay today. Standing by us, hardly, standing behind us while we turn and face the ditch might be a more acurate analogy.

Ruger makes some good guns. Strong revolvers, controlled feed rifles, and real nifty Bisely Vaquero. But no 10rd mag for the Minis? In reality, they sold out much sooner than S&W. I don't blame anyone for boycotting either.

Anybody remember Mr. Ruger being interviewed in American Rifleman (I think) about his sellout at the time? I remember reading it 3 times and never seeing where he actually answered the Questions. Full of indignation and proud patriot stuff but he dodged the whole controversy. Lost any respect I had for him then.

The thing that burns me is while I didn't see the article where he was interviewed after the stab in the back (I was overseas at the time) is that what was it a year or so ago they did another write up on Ruger. Of course by this time he gave a bunch of money to the NRA museum (probably the only place where we will find our gun collections along with the Bill or Rights some day) and they didn't mention a thing about it! They point it out at the time but he sends money and they now overlook it like it never happened. Glad to be 100% Ruger free. :)

I'll thank him by buying a P97 as soon as I can afford it.

If we could change the past it would be great but right now we have a greater task at hand. My point in this matter is we will have a much greater chance convincing our own gun companies then those of Anti-gun countries. To them we are just a dollar figure and nothing more. They will stand behind their gun but not our right to have one. Ruger did support the Hi-cap ban but if I recall so did all the other manufacturers. I'm sure you all have purchased guns from the other manufactures.

Umm, leedesert, I'm pretty sure that's incorrect about the other manufacturers. Can you provide any citations of endorsements of the ban by companies other than Ruger??

OK...that's enough...yes Ruger screwed up... and yes the Brits are looking for a way to unload S&W...and don't even get me started on the stupidity of Colt...but enough of this bashing crap...especially from all you Glockers...did everyone not notice Glock's willingness to basically fingerprint their weapon's characteristics at the factory for tracking purposes...oh, I forgot, when you blindly follow trends like sheeple, you overlook things like that...look folks, life sucks and god knows it's not fair...but in reality this planet runs on the almighty dollar...that isn't ever going to change...all of the above moves have been made in the attempt to watch the bottom lines...it's that simple...

OK...rant mode off...sorry...

DeakonG--

I'm all for bashing they that get rich on our dollars and yet sell our rights down the river.

Bash! Bash-bash!

Glock's fingerprinting their guns doesn't hurt my rights. I don't have the least problem with it. It falls under the same category as writing down the serial numbers. This stuff could, possibly, potentially, be of some use in I.D.-ing the shooters in cases of accidental shootings or real crimes. It probably won't work very well, but I don't personally feel violated by that. Why do you?

Right now, Glock's pretty high in my book. And I don't even own one.
