Girsan MC1911S gen2 range report

Picked up my new Girsan MC1911C on Tuesday. Got it out to the range today. The build quality is decent (more than decent for $390) and the trigger has just a little takeup before it stops and the final squeeze drops the hammer. The sights are almost the same dimensions as my Glock 22 Heine's. So point of impact with similar velocity ammo should drop rounds right on the bulls eye at 7 yards.
Groups are a little wide and left, need better trigger work, used to my glocks 1-2" groups. I took a few shots from a supported position and the groups were around 1" or a smidge smaller. So it's capable of tight groups. I was also using factory reloads by Atlanta Arms as I didn't have time to reload my own this week, should have done as it was $22 a box.
I also didn't clean it at all, just ran the supplied oil down the rail channels. Slide is very smooth. Grips are ok, just a tad fat but not really too noticeable. May swap out for Magpul or Pachmyr.
So the magazines, ok, not 100%, the Act-Mag that came supplied with the pistol worked 100%, Chip McComick's had a failure to feed twice and twice failed to allow the trigger to be pulled, I assume interfering with the grip safety, may need a break in period, once I reload a couple of boxes I'll re-test each magazine after I've also exercised the springs. The two Remington oem mags 100% failure. Couldn't get them to seat and lock in. They'll be going back to CDNN and replacing with chips or Wilson Combat.
Weight it about the same as a Springfield mil-spec, I think maybe slightly nose heavier due to barrel weight. But comfortable to shoot, controls are still a smidge stiff yet.

Very nice! I'm a fan of the Turkish pistols. I bought a Tisas a few years ago. It was just a G.I. model, but man, that thing was accurate. The only problem I has was with aftermarket parts. Either they were out of spec or the pistol was. To be fair ,I only bought some cheap parts. Quality might have made all the difference.

Dale, you can get some 1911's for under that price, but once you add in Novak's, extended thumb safety and beaver tail you end up needing to add $100.
