Getting ready to say goodbye to an old friend......

I have had a P229 in 40 for awhile

I shoot it well, but it sits in a box or a safe these days, as I shoot and carry my M&Ps

When I transfer back and forth between the DA/SA trigger to a DAO
I dont do so well

So...... 1 trigger type for me

All my guns are working guns, no safe queens...... They have to carry or hunt.......

The M&Ps carry much better for me......... A Shield or an M&P Compact are always on the hip in a REMORA holster - EXTREMELY comfortable

Off to the gunshow, to try and get a fair price

I have a Jones for a new 6.8 20 inch barrel .... this is my funding method
(2 Kids in College )

Good bye old friend:(

I traded my p229 for a p220.

Most of my pistols are fun guns. I just didn't have a use for a 40 since I started reloading.

Whenever I have a gun to sale, I head to a funshow and it's normally gone in 20 minutes without getting plugged by a gunshop.

Im the opposite, most of my guns don't see much range time.
I tend to gravitate towards just a few that seem to get shot a lot.

I try not to spread my range time too thin with different guns.
I don't hunt and I don't like to mix up carry guns to much.

When I buy a gun I pretty much know if it's going to be a carry gun and a workhorse at the range, or if it's mostly going to sit at home and collect dust and look pretty.
And I don't mind that.. some will argue it's a waste of money and in a way they're not wrong.

But after you have say 4 or 5 hand guns and a few good longguns things start getting redundant unless you're ok with collecting and rarely shooting some of them.

I hope you are able to trade it for something you want.

Both DA/SA and .40 are sooo "last decade". :D Good luck on that.

I have just two guns I carry, a Shield and a Glock 19. All my other guns are range toys or safe queens. I have no problem at all with having guns I seldom or never shoot.

Some I will trade. Some I will not.

A Glock? Yea. Ruger? Yea.

My first CCW carry gun (the one on the left)? No.

My field gun for many years. No.

I can toggle back and forth pretty well between triggers, but I can understand wanting to stick with one type.
My carry guns are working guns though. I stick with one type for that. {DA\SA} Just bought a p229 40S&W to go with my p239. I'm shooting a p226 9mm now in USPSA now in production.

My wise old daddy once gave me some great advice....I took it to heart and glad I did.
" Son, don't ever sell a gun you like , chances are you will regret it . "

*Your father was a wise man??

Just about what my pop said................and the reason I haven't sold any guns in the last thirty-five or so years......................and the reason I don't have any regrets now!

True.

Yeah....... I get that

Sometimes you get driven by some perceived need. And..... if i spend ANY more money for guns(With my kids in College).... my days above the dirt ARE SHORT

I WANT to shoot longer distances with my 6.8...... I mean c'mon.... who doesnt want to shoot longer???

There are some new bullets out by a company called Cavity Back Bullets. They will open down to 1400 fps....... I already have a 16 inch barreled 6.8 that I love. I have a 223, that is just SITTING there.... doing NOTHING :)

So........ $$ for a barrel and bolt swap.......

A safe "slacker" had to go

Logical.... right? :)

I favor the DA/SA action of a Sig. The young bucks are just now rediscovering revolvers. after that fad goes away, they will rediscover the DA/SA pistol. JMHO. Keep the P229, as it is a world class combat pistol. Convert it to a 9mm for saving ammo on ammo's sake. Google up how to do the conversion, it isn't difficult to make the conversion.
