Getting out, staying out, and living out

This is related to the "Turning on...." post, but since I felt it was a little too separate I posted a new thread.

Right now, I am uninterested in staying within the musty walls of the US of A for life. The last few months, I have been unable to see myself staying here forever. I am working towards finding a way to get out, stay out, and live doing it. I am currently pursueing an Engineering major.

Is there anything I can do (such as more school, etc), to ensure that I do in fact leave...and do realistically well elsewhere? ("Elsewhere" includes the entire globe, all 7 continents)

Just to mention, while I am here...I am gonna put up one helluva fight. :D

Well, if you're poly-lingual and aren't blond and blue-eyed, your odds are better.

Lots of computer-literate types are doing well, financially, in Mexico; mostly Bus/Ad majors, I gather.

I'd say learn all manner of do-it-yourself stuff, and all the languages you can. And all you can about hardware and software...

Most US-based companies are hurting for employees who are both US citizens (loyalty issue) and who are fluent in more than just one foreign language. For that matter, so's the Fedrul Gummint.

Hueco: If you are serious about leaving learn anything and everything you can about latest and greatest computer software (get certified and or documented) related to engineering field and learn a foreign language. I studied computer software and international business (got degrees in both) and speak 3 languages (I know enough in 4 more to get in trouble :) ). After finishing school I worked for a international corporation here for few years to get some practical experience. In past 12 years my wife and I have lived in 5 different countries on 3 different continents. At 36 I'm finally putting down roots to settle down. In 20 years we are planning to move again...
