Getting Old, Need Help with Sights

As much as I hate to admit it the old peepers ain't what they used to be. Last weekend I was out shooting my Marlin 1894P with a Williams peep sight installed. Was having a lot of trouble seeing the target and front sight and groupings well, lets just say the Kid shooting at Clint and Morgan in Unforgiven came to mind.
I really do not want to put a scope on this carbine as I like the size and fast handling. It also serves as a "trunk gun" when I travel into Mass.(I have an out of state hunting license so its perfectly legal).
Without turning this short story into an book the question I have is: What type of sight(s) would you good people recommend which is small enough not to alter the handling characteristics of this carbine but still allow fast and accurate target acquisition out to 75 yards.
Was looking at the Tasco Optima 2000 as a possibility.
As always thanks in advance for the responses.

I had vision troubles way before I got old. Got my first glasses in 1937.

Anyway, I've needed a scope for a long, long time.

If you wear glasses now, you could try what I've had done for the glasses I use when shooting pistol: An insert lens in the upper, inner corner of my master-eye lens. It's in line with the sights when in the Weaver stance. It's fairly close in line for shooting a rifle with iron sights. The correction with that insert is the same as for the middle part of my tri-focals, which is sharp focus at arms' length--just right for gunsights, dashboards, etc.

If you only wear glasses for reading, you could try a pair of non-corrective lenses with the insert ground to provide sharpness at rifle-sight length. It doesn't matter if the target is very slightly blurred.

What Art said, plus;

Small diopter correction lens on an articulated frame that affixes to your shooting glasses. Legal for most iron sight competition.

Similar to above except opaque disc with pin hole. The pin hole increases the depth of field of the focused eye, thus increasing the appearant sharpness of both the sights and the target.

Comfort of these gizmos is subjective. What one person can't stand, another person loves.

Sam...heaven; shootin 800 80X at age 80.

old eyes

If you can afford it look into "Lazak" surgery. No more problems - except for some people who end up with slightly reduced night vision. PS Go overseas on vacation andhave it done. You'll save enough to pay for the vacation.

my ranger shooting glasses(Trap and Skeet)have lenses that you can pop in and out--was having same problem as you and had a new lense made with bifocal lense at top..it was ok for pistol but sometimes w/rifle saw two front sights.....i had Ranger make my left eye (dominant eye) whole lense to focus at 32" from eye...Right lense is regular distance prescription..this is the way they make contacts for you if you need to read a lot...I can now see the tool marks in the front sights of my pistols and rifles they are so clear...By the way i just turned 53 myself and with these glasses i can shoot iron sights better than ever.....Dick
