Getting it Wright..........

This Colt New Frontier was not quite grouping where I wanted it. The rear sight was as low as I could get it, and it still didn't seem bottomed out:

So, put the gun in the shop with my gunsmith, Keith Warner, and got it out last Thursday. Here's today's efforts:

Believe its finally right on.

Nice revolver!! Glad that you got it to shoot to the POA.
I have a smith 25 that shoots 6" high at 25 yards with the rear sight adjusted all the way down, I might have to have a new sight installed, or tinker more with loads to find one that shoots lower

The rear sight spring had been installed kinked so that several loops were caught between the sight tang and the mortise. Also there was some residue left from the case hardening process that he cleaned out.

The only place I've seen that done was at the S&W factory. Not a hammer, but a length of lead bar about one inch in diameter and maybe twelve inches in length, and fitted with a bicycle hand grip.

Really gives a visual of "out of whack."

I used to use a lead mallet with just a pipe handle (no bicycle grip). But that kind of thing is a gunsmith secret so don't tell anyone. Works OK on rifle barrels, also.

Those who think only gunsmiths do things like that should not watch a body shop man fitting a car door.
