Getting back into 9x18 guns

Just picked up this nice P64 from J&G. Can't say enough about that dealer and their excellent service.

This gun was their lowest price selection with only a $20 hand picked option. Even came with a matching serial number magazine. The grips were added by me and really set off the gun.

Just love the workmanship in these cold war era guns.

I ordered some Wolff springs, but will probably not install them right away. This gun has an excellent single action trigger pull and I can even live with the 20 to 30 pound double action pull for a while :).

Any thoughts on carry ammo? Will probably stick with the two Hornady selections for now however, I hear that everything works.

Nice grips. They really set off the blued color. I've had my P64 for about a decade now. I've actually been thinking of letting mine go just to free up funds for something else (oh, the horror of letting one of my children go).

Here are some right side photo's. Was thinking of using some Brownells blueing touch up on the bright spots, but now I think I will leave it alone. It is sort of a badge of honor regarding the prior use of this gun.

I really like these grips. When I ordered them, I didn't think they would be this nice. The advertising photo on GRIPS4u.net web site, didn't do them justice. They were much better than their photo.

Thanks,

I have one and love it, even with the DA trigger pull. For that which the little gun is intended, it works perfect. And I don't have to worry about small children "finding" it. If they happened to do so, they could not fire it.

If you are a reloader, get some plated bullets from Barry's and brass from Starline and load your own. My son and I both load 9x18 Makarov. It's easy.

By all means use a crimp die. My son and I both use them on ALL handgun reloading. Lee makes good ones at a very reasonable price.

Nah. They'd find a way.

Some years ago in my state (MN) the anti-gun folk tried to mandate a minimum trigger pull weight for the safety of the children. Thankfully it did not become a law, partially because even very little kids can do the darnedest things.

It's probably better we don't say things like that.
