Getting a UMC

For some reason I can not fathom - instead of buying a fancy shmancy Stainless FAL I am thinking of buying an HK UMC.
How many people here own one and whats it like livin with the UMC?
Whats it like firing SUPER loads in it?

A UMC would be cool, but you should go all out. Pay the $200 tax stamp and chop that barrel off nice and stubby. And then since you are stuck with single stack magazines, see if you can modify it to take your 1911 mags! Then you could be like the cowboys of old with their matching Colts and Winchesters. :)

Though the stainless FAL carbine would be really tough too.

I know get them both! :D

i have had the jones for the UMC since the pictures first appeared on HKpro.com

the 10 round mag limit is a functional issue with the concept of the weapon thou...

At this point i am looking into pistol caliber AR uppers.

IMHO a pistol caliber carbine requires 30 round mags

Its a cool looking carbine, i like the ergos

has anyone seen the Special Weapons rifles? http://www.specialweaponsllc.com/firearms/sporting_45.html
SW45 production is just around the conner, the bolt heads are done and the barrel will be finished in about 2
weeks, we have the program done to modify the receivers already. The gun will launch using modified M3 grease
gun mags with modified Thompsons being available in January 2001.

I have been contemplating the purchase of the UMC, but have run into a major hurdle. At least until the elections are over. My idea was to have one cut and put on a suppresser. But get this, some pin head a ATF is saying that suppressers make for the ultimate "flash hider" and will not give the suppresser manufacture the green light to do it. They are trying to use the rule of the 94' weapons ban against the manufacture of flash hider and claim that a suppresser is a hider. And I ask myself, why I hate this administration.

I have a family member who has one. I haven't fired it yet, but I've toyed around with it a bit. I must admit, I'm not huge on it. It has a very 'toy' feel to it. It's very blocky and generally uncomfortable. I love HK gear, but I'm finding it hard to love the UMC.

Most, if not all, of my gripes with it are pure subjective opinion on my part. Maybe if I take it to the range it'll grow on me.
