Getting a PA CCW as a NJ resident?

I am on the lease renting a place in philadelphia as a student, however for money reasons it is still easier to be a resident of nj. Is there a way to get a CCW as a nj resident in pa?
My area is not the best and I know others who have had "problems" in the past. I have been lucky in my 5 years here, however How would someone go about getting a ccw in this situation?

PA residents I appreciate your input.

I'm pretty sure you're going to have to have a CCW from another State or have a valid PA Drivers license to get a CCW in PA.

If i were able to get one for my homestate, under what conditions could I CC in philadelphia?

What would your advice be? Switching to PA residence is not really an option at the moment. thanks.

There is NO WAY you are going to get a NJ CCW. You are going to somehow show your residence as PA. Not only that, even if you could get a PA ccw, you wouldnt be able to travel back in NJ with your gun on your person. NJ is one of the worst states in the nation for gun laws.
check packing.org for more details on the laws.

Is it that hard to get one in nj? I am not a Pa resident, I do rent here, but I doubt thats helpful. I am more concerned really with just being able to carry bc of philadelphia specifically. Thanks again.

You can get a nonresident carry permit in PA providing you have an unresticted carry permit in your state, at least for adjoining states .Your problem would be to get a NJ ccw .

I guess I better get workin on that NJ CCW. Is there anything that may help me bc it sounds like thats hard to do. Does it help to know people in law enforcement?

The easiest thing for a NJ resident to do is get a FL license. It's more expensive and takes longer but doesn't require a home state permit to aquire. FL licenses are recognized in PA.

As someone else suggested the best place for anything related to CCW is packing.org.

holy S i can just get a FL license even thought i am not a resident? I have visited once! Thats great advice I will look into that, I assume this means my chances of getting a NJ CCW are very very slim? In nj id have to write a really good letter explaining the need and I assume I cant just cut and paste in the 2nd ammendment?

Here's the honest truth coming from a NJ resident in the same situation are you: my permanent address is in the NJ but I lived here in PA for the past 4 years (College). This is what I've done and I carry all over PA (and half the country thanks to reciprocity).

Visit packing.org and check the FL section. There's a link in to the department of something and agriculture. You can navigate to a page and request the application packet sent to your home address. Once you get it you fill it out and send it back (along with the fingerprint card and proof of firearm proficiency). You'll have a FL CCW permit in 90 days. It will look exactly like the FL CCW permit but it'll stay your home address (NJ). This card then lets you carry in over 30 states.

One of my good friends just happens to be a deputy sheriff in the county that I'm staying in (PA). It just blows his mind...but he agrees that it's completey legit. Just one of those loopholes...until the masses find out about it and some liberals go and draft up some stupid law about it.

Good luck.

PS: You'll never pull a NJ CCW. Don't waste your time. Get the FL...it works over half the county. 2nd best to National Carry as a LEO. PM me if you need any help or more details
