Getting a Glock replaced?

My G29 has started to malfunction again. It is the same problem I sent it in for a few months ago, spent case stuck firmly under the extractor. I am now going to request that they replace the pistol with a new one. Has anyone had this done before? Do they take the serial number tag off the frame and just slap it on another pistol? Or will I have to pay for another background check (TN CHLs do not exempt the holder from TICS fees)?

I don't believe that to be the case. I've never had to have a gun replaced, but a friend recently did. I think that the manufacturer can swap guns without changing the serial number and without a background check. In my friends case it was Beretta. He sent the defective handgun in and they simply sent him a new one without any prodding or additional information from him.

Good luck. . .

Armourer

Your best bet to get the thing fixed quickly and cheaply would be to contact the nearest large police department that uses Glocks and get ahold of their armourer. Many do outside gunsmithing. That way, you may avoid UPS shipping charges.
The factory won't just stick the serial number on a new gun, you have to melt the frame to get the thing out.

By the way, please check out the thread on Glock accidental disccharge in the semi-auto forum and do those of us who live in the real world a favor and please share your problem with some of the glock heads who claim glock jams, malfunctions and slamfires are just "internet rumours".

...as opposed to the unjammable 1911s and unbreakable Berettas you discuss? ;)

"Whos to say they will replace the gun, because you aksed for it?" It would be nice if I could do that with all of my guns or better yet my cars, everytime their's a problem.

Changing the gun becuase of extraction/ejection problems is the very extreme. I would think that glock would look at the extractor and ejector and maybe replace those parts first and test fire the weapon using quality ammunition.

since it has already been through the hands of one local armorer and taken a trip to Smyrna, i figure replacement will be an option on the table, however this is between me and the good people in GA, so far i have no reason to doubt they will do right by me, the original point of the post was to ask how Glock replaces a pistol not if they will replace it or whether Glocks are perfect or not

Been there, done that.

I sent a defective Glock 30 to Smyrna, and Glock replaced it after a little haggling. The replacement pistol had a different serial number from the one I returned, and was shipped to me complete with accessories and a new receipt marked "warranty replacement."

They did not ask about registration.

As for Glocks being perfect, well -- Glock replaced mine for free, so I guess mine wasn't quite. They did do right in the end, but I ended up paying shipping to them for the return.

BTW, the Glock is for sale on this site. Never fired!

END

Any mechanical device made by the hand of man will malfunction, break and not work right at times. Glocks do better than most pistols out there. Also the is no such thing as a accidental discharge. There are only intentional discharges and negligent discharges. The slam fire issue is pure BS.
