I put a used two year old Colt match target Hbar on law away for 899.00 and it is still on law away. In the mean time gander Mountain had the S&W AR 15 Sport on sale for $610.00 out the door with my son's discount. So I bought one.
My question is would you still get the used Colt and have two AR 15's ?
The other option is to buy a 20" upper for the Sport and be able to switch upper when I want to. I can get a Stag upper for 539.00.

I guess it depends on your desire or need for another AR.
Personally I would still get the Colt. I assume the HBAR is a full stock in the A2 configuration??
And if the S&W is a carbine, and probably with a Coll stock then you have two fairly different rifles anyway.

Regardless I don't think you will see the price of that Colt going down any time soon. Most likely in this election year it will go up, drastically.
So I don't think you will will lose anything !!

Get the S&W.

Buy a 20" HBAR upper from a good manufacturer.

Now, you have your 16" for plinking/HD/whatever and if you want to do some serious target shooting, you have the 20" upper as well. Outfit both with the optic of your choice and hit the range!

I'm willing to bet that when you get your first AR it quickly becomes 2, then 3, and so on. Although I've turned my attention to lever guns and bolts, i still love my ARs. :D

I wouldn't give $900 for a used Colt unless you have a prancing pony fetish. Many AR's will do everything a Colt will do and more for less $$.
I won't say how many AR rifles I have and yes, at least one is a Colt but it doesn't provide anything a couple of others can't match.
