I have been searching for some more german surplus for my M1A and havent been able to find any. I used to snatch it up on cheaper than dirt for around 85 dollars for a battle pack of 200 rounds, but it is no longer sold there. Anybody know where to find it? (Please and thank you)

i must say as well, its hard to find 7.62x51 ammo these days. everyone tries to sell me .308 ammo but they just don't understand that 7.62 nato is slightly different

Yep the link works, thanks for posting.

I have about 750 rounds, a mixture of surplus ammo form Germany, UK and South Africa. I've also found that Silver Bear 140gr FMJ seems to have about the same POI and functions flawlessly.

But not in any way that that matters to most rifles as long as your head space is good. Head spacing is the only real difference between the two, and it's a slight one at that.

Many people will tell you that 308 will blow a 7.62x51 gun because they'll claim 308 is much higher pressure, it's not.

This comes from the fact that 7.62x51 and 308 were tested in two different ways with CUP (Copper Units of Pressure) being used as the unit in the 7.62x51 testing.
7.62x51 = 50,000 cup (not psi)
308 = 62,000 psi

People keep changing cup to psi without converting the numbers which is why you keep seeing 7.62x51 being quoted at being 50,000 psi.

I still can not find any of this ammo. I searched high and low. If anyone has any information on where to even get single packs of the german dag let me know.

Have you checked with ammoman.com? They pay shipping and are easy to work with. That's where I've found my 7.62x51 DAG in the past. I buy in bulk from them and have saved some money. I still have a thousand rounds of DAG plus I've got about the same in British Radway Green and Spanish Santa Barbara. All good stuff through my HK91 and M1A Super Match.

yeah i have a Lee Enfield Ishapore 7.62 and it can't handle 308's as its to much pressure for that old gun. One thing i have found interesting is that all these companies are coming out with rifles listed as 7.62x51 which there really isn't much actual 7.62 nato ammo available except for surplus you can find and Winchester. I don't know why they just don't advertise them or call them 308's
