George Bush and Bill Clinton can never own a gun!!!!

I had an odd thought the other day about the process for buying a gun and the instant background check that must be passed under the current laws.
Bill Clinton, Bill Bradley, Al Gore, George Bush Jr. Have all admitted to smoking pot, and George Bush Jr. admitted to youthful indescretion (cocaine marrijuana acid???). Unless I am saddly mistaken the federal background check form bars anyone who has used drugs speciffically marijuana from ever owning a gun.

What did George Jr. put on the form the last time he purchased a gun?????

Did he lie?????

Why isn't there a question asking if you consume more than 2 drinks a day??? Should people who drink own guns?????????

Don't become offended these are just my
musings.

When an applicat answers yes to the question have you ever used marrijuana or other illegal drugs what does the FFL dealer do?

Ask for a toke and sell the gun or does he denty the sale.

Any FFL Holders out there??

In Massachusetts, the form you fill out asks if you are CURRENTLY an illegal user of marijuana or any other narcotic. The upshot is that if you are currently a user you present a risk and should be denied. I agree with this differentiation.

According to the current ATF Form 3373 (yellow sheet), question 'e' in Section 8 asks, "Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana, or any depressant, stimulant, or narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?"

Don't see how this "are you an unlawful user" would prohibit Bush or Slick Willie from owning a firearm. Were the question to say, "have you ever used"--well, that's another story.

Hell, they'd both lie anyway!

Well Thanks for the responses guys, I was kind of hoping someone would know the exact language of the question and someone did.

I still wonder what kind of crazy stories we may hear after George gets elected (he will have my vote).

I guess If he refrains from doing Bongs in the oval office while having his barrel polished by some sweet young thing then he will be able to purchase as many guns as he wants in the near future. :D

As for Bill Clinton who knows?????

It would be interesting to get an opinion from an official source as to the meaning of the question "are you an unlawfull user..."

Is there a temporal element to the word "are" and what is the temporal limitation??

Does it mean are you high now??
Were you high last week?? year month????
Is it habbitual use?? How is that defined???

Al Gore's marijuana use was habitual. One close friend claims Gore was smoking daily before he got elected to congress. I guess he can't buy a gun.

Hey monkey leg is your name DICK or were you trying to indicate that I'm A Dick.

I'm just trying to figure out the intent of the question on the background check form.

Its legal language and involves administrative law which I'm sure no one including the people who enforce it fully understand.

Take no offense, my young friend, I'm sure it was just a poke at our sleazy, lying Commander in Chief. I use to have a boss whose name was Dick. How did his mother know way back then???

Masterblaster, my name is Dick. And I'm thinking about putting together a class action lawsuit against all TV networks, film studios, etc. that use the name "Dick" in vain. Everybody else is suing, why not us Dicks?

Seems like it boils down to the ol' PC musing:
Don't Ask, Don't Tell... ;)

...defend the 2nd., it protects us all.
No fate but what we make...

I'm high and I'm a dick, but my name is Tim.

If I already own my guns can I get high now?

If I become President (hey! it could happen) do I have to be honest? or high? or both?

Well said Weshoot2,

The government has already taken away some of our rights and endorses and profits from the sale and distribution of alcohol over marijuana.

Soon private ownership of guns may be just as illegal as possession of marijuana.

It is important that we all stand up for our rights.
Hey Tecolote
I'm glad to hear Al Gore was a regular practitioner of civil disobedience this raises my opinion of him considerably.

George Bush has NEVER admitted to using cocain! It was a filthy, stupid story that had absolutely no substance and that is why the guy who supposedly "knew about all kinds of things about it" was not allowed to carry on with his book about it, there were simply no facts or real witnesses nor evidance, it was just another way for the media to try and attack a conservative

"Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana, or any depressant, stimulant, or narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?"

So, does this include nicotine and caffeine under the stimulant catatagory?

Thought about asking when I was buying my USP, but decided not to be a smart ass.

swatman,

Bush didn't admit to using cocaine but neither did he say he did not ever use it. The very fact that he waffled on the issue and used semantic contortions demonstrates that he has something to hide.
