Should have posted this earlier but hey, I'm only volunteering (got volunteered). So, are you into geocaching and shooting? Well, here's an event for you and your spouse or buddy. Firearms and bullets provided and bring your eyes 'n ears. C'mon out and support the school with the nation's oldest gunsmithing program.

Saturday, May 23, 2015
6pm-7pm
Trinidad State Junior College
600 Prospect Street

What: We will be hosting a catered dinner for geocachers at the posted coordinates to eat, recap the entire day's worth of activities (see below), and generally be social. Cost of the dinner is yet to be determined, but feel free to attend regardless of your appetite!

Awards will be given for the geocacher who drove the farthest as well as “First to Find” awards on the dozen or so new caches that were unveiled today. Many of them will focus on the rich heritage of Trinidad, an old west town located on the Santa Fe Trail just north of Raton Pass in Southern Colorado. In addition, we'll let everyone know the winners from the 'Targets and Treasurers' shooting competition that took place earlier in the day (see below for details).

Please RSVP as soon as possible, and let us know if you'll be at the dinner and/or the optional shooting/geocaching competition.

Optional Activity:

Starting at 8am at N 37° 09.104 W 104° 23.700 (42013 County Road 24.6, 6 miles East of Trinidad) we will be having a 'Targets and Treasures' shooting and geocaching competition. It will feature target shooting using shotguns, air rifles, handguns, and muzzle-loading rifles plus an archery event. In between the target shooting stops, contestants will be given coordinates to geocache locations which will be new that day. Those caches must be found before they can move on to the next shooting event. The activity will be limited to 40 two-person teams. The entry fee of $75 per team includes ammunition and the use of firearms.

This is a competition, and the winners based on the time it took to complete the entire nine-station course. For more information, go to: http://www.targetsandtreasurses.com

I don't have any financial interest in this but got volunteered (so much for sleeping in on Saturday. I'm likely to be working the muzzle loading range.
