Gen 4 Glock .357 Sig question

I have gen 4s in 31, 32 and 33. I am wondering if the stock springs will hold up to full-power ammunition. I am going to be using Underwood ammo and shooting full-power reloads as well. Underwood is rated at 1475 fps, which is a bit stouter than stuff from Speer, etc., which is rated at 1350 fps.

Thanks

You mean .357 magnum?

I don't know, but I was running through some of my Father's revolvers and using magnum if it said it on the barrel and wow - that round really has some thunder compared to regular .380 special or regular .357.

Don't know, but used up the .357 magnum and do not think will be using that again unless there is a bear in my hallway!

No, he meant .357 SIG. Glock doesn't make anything in .357 Magnum.

I don't have much experience with Glocks chambered in .357 SIG, but I know that their 9mm and .40 models are sprung for hotter defensive loads. So I wouldn't be surprised if the .357 SIG models were too. That said, it wouldn't hurt to try out a stiffer spring like Dan-O suggested.

Glock doesn't make anything that would run a .357RemMag, it's a .357SIG. All small frame Gen 3 Glocks are sprung at 17lbs, and that's too light for a hot .357SIG load. I run a 20lb ISMI on my G31's, you can go up to 22/24lbs. My practice load is a 125 Montana Gold JHP on top of 7.8 grs of BE-86 at 1.140" OAL and it chronos at 1,420 fps and the duty caps are the Double Tap125s going almost 1,600 fps. I'd be surprised if you chrono 1,475 fps with a 147 grain bullet, even with a G31, and certainly not in the compact or sub compact. Be sure to use a thread locker on your after market guide rod, the bolt will come loose with a G31.

I run Double Tap through my Gen 3 and never had a problem, They are pretty hot. You'll be surprised how many people haven't seen 357sig before.

Rough, a few hundred of anything thru a Glock is not a problem, but I'm talking about going into the 20,000 count. The slide will crack, or beat the frame so badly you can't get the slide on, with a steady diet of +P+ loads. This 2 pin G17 cracked the slide at about 25,000 rounds of 127+P+ (about 1,280 fps). And that's nowhere near the juice of a .357SIG.

I've run a few thousand rounds of everything from Corbon to Gold dots to HST's and everything in between through my G32 and stock springs and never a bobble.

I never had any problems running a G32gen3 hard with Hornady and others while running the factory spring. I would just kepp an eye on it and if you feel it needs to go up a pound or two go ahead and order a replacement. Is Wolff making replacements for the captive gen 4 guns?

Ok Thanks about .357 mag and sig. Did not really know as all my new guns and all Glocks are 9mm or .45.
Only the stock of older revolvers shoot .38 ammo. Which I have thousands of rounds of, so occasionally bring out a nice Smith and Wesson 66-1 or 19-2 frame revolver and have fun.

Thanks for the link Dan-O. I have some Underwood ammo on its way. Some of it is rated at 1475fps, and I saw one youtube review where the guy chronoed it at 1500+. That was the 125gr bonded hollow point and the 125gr FMJ out of a Glock 32.

Another benefit of a heavier spring is that the slide will stay locked up longer allowing full potential of the caliber.
