Who says Glocks aren't collectible? A 1st generation Glock 17 just sold for $980 on Gunbroker with 23 bidders. This could be an interesting trend.

Someone on Calguns.net has a 1st generation 17L.
Now that is a rare bird!
I didn't even know they made those.

But truthfully, my 1st generation 17 is the best glock I've ever owned.
The smooth grip feels way smaller than any of my others.
Truly it is a classic! All original including the guts.

Everyone who I know who's tried to sell a used Glock pistol at a gun show or at a gun store always is told that the market for Glocks is "soft." Glocks and Taurus pistols are about on the same level when it come to selling them...no one wants to buy a used one.

Go hunting and see how many 1st generations you can find right now for sale.
Even more rare are the tupperware boxes they came in with the built in ammo block.

That's why the value is higher than the normal used glock.

In the old days, Volkswagens were all we could afford. Must have had over 35 of they over the years. But now I can't even afford one. Go figure.
Will be the same for those old glocks one of these day, I guarantee it!

Where are you at? Around here a used Glock goes for almost the same price as a new one. I'd love to pick up a few at Taurus prices.

Nearly every gun show, someone will come by my table and offer up a used Glock......and they want more than what my dealer cost is on a new one.

It doesn't matter that you "only ran two clips through it" or that you paid $539+ tax at Academy.........my dealer cost on a Gen3 is $440. I would be an idiot if I gave you more than $400 for it.

That's not a soft market, that's unrealistic expectations.;)

Sell to someone other than a licensed dealer and you'll get more $$$.

Why wouldn't anyone think that the guns that started the "Tupperware Revolution" would someday be collectible?

No different than first generation Colt SAA's, early model 1911's, Model T's, original Star Wars toys, etc, etc, etc. There was a time in the history of each when you could literally not give them away.

Because they're so common and cheap originally, very few people worry about preserving them. They're used as tools or toys and discarded or junked when worn out. The surviving ones in decent shape become collectible over time.

Well darn..another mistake I made selling mine back in the day...who da thunk it? :) little Tupperware box and everything..still have the Gen2 that replaced it tho..

Used Glocks selling at fair prices sell very well. Around here a new Gen-3 gun is no more than $500 for most of them. The larger framed 45's and 10mm's might sell for $50-$75 more. Most of the 9mm and 40 S&W Glocks should sell used for $350-$400. Most of mine have been bought that way and a used Glock is a pretty safe bet. If anything is wrong with it Glock will make it like new.

Awesome! If I had know this would happen, I would have bought a couple extra Gen 1's back in 1988 when I bought my first. By the way, it has always performed magnificently! Never a ftf or fte, nor any parts breakage.

The only change I made to the gun was to install Trijicon night sights about 6 months after the initial purchase of the gun. Even the Trijicon sights are still working beautifully. Why settle for 2nd best, when you can own a Clock! :D

The only Glocks where the market is soft right now is the goofball calibers like the GAP and .357Sig models. The .40S&W models except the G24/35 long slides, are soft as well due to tons of cop trade ins out there.

All of the 9mm Glocks sell used as long as prices are not silly. Ditto for the 45ACP's.

Me too! So, what's going to be the next gun to become as iconic as a 1st Gen Glock, since I seem to have missed out on 1st Gen Glocks?
