Does anyone know if the Gemtech supprressed barrels for the 10/22 are for civilian purchase or LEO/Military only? Thanks.

As long as your state of residence allows those, then it's legal. PS: what type of suppressor are we talking about? Few company (Gemtech included) will sell you those "wipes" suppressor anymore. the reason being that you need to replace the "guts" often and BATF says every single parts of a suppressor is itself a suppressor (that means the screw is also one!). the procedure of getting replacement is very troublesome.

My understanding is that you pay the BATF $200? for a tax stamp to register the weapon. If I were you I would visit the US Treasury website and get the application and info.

I am sure you can purchase one from Gemtech if you have the proper paperwork. I own four Gemtech suppressors and have been pleased with all of them. Be careful about hunting squirrels with a suppressed rifle. Most states have laws against this.

M16, what type of paperwork do they require? If I can purchase one, will definitely check into the laws so as not to break any.

What is your overall opinion of the Gemtech barrels? Good results or bad?

Thanks,

sks

Proper paperwork is 2 ATF Form 4s (I believe). Seller (Gemtech) will fill out the first part listing the item, You will out the next section which includes attaching passport type photos and take it to your CLEO. CLEO fills out next section affirming to you lawfullness.

These are then sent into ATF along with two sets of fingerprints and a money order for the black.... Tax.

ATF will then either issue a stamp or denie the application and send it back to you. You then, if approved, sent it to Seller who then sends you it back along with the item.

Simple, isn't it?

Unless you are a resident of Idaho

You need to transfer the suppressor to a dealer in your state of residence in from 3. Then he/she would transfer that to you in from 4 (you possess the suppressor in from 4. Any time a C-3 item is sold cross the state line, it has to be in from 3). It’s also a good idea to find out whether your county CLEO will sign the from or not. Mine would not and I had the director of GBI to sign off for me.
