Hey, you're not gonna believe this, but something's stuck in there.
Hand me that long stick and I'll get it out for ya...

...defend the 2nd., it protects us all.
No fate but what we make...

The fact that they would put that photo in their website illustrates their total lack of understanding about the most basic gun safety practices.

There are several items in this photo thats makes me think its fake.
Namely, I'm thinking there are some out of era items:
The canteen, the muzzle cap, the hat, and other clues.
Dont know for sure - as I was not in Nam during that war... but I beleive some of these items didnt come out until the 80's.
I could be wrong.
The least - he had to be a 2nd LT right outta ROTC - Totally clueless. I feel sorry for the guys Platoon Sarge that had to deal with this Butter Bar.

"So, this is the end the bullets come out."

Gunslinger

We live in a time in which attitudes and deeds once respected as courageous and honorable are now scorned as being antiquated and subversive.

Well, what I enjoy seeing is that M16 isn't on safe it's on semi, he's got all his gear on yet he's playing with the sling on his rifle, wet-weather top when he's about to go on a movement, needless to say he would dehydrate in about an hour. The gear is vietnam era though. The ruck frame, canteen cap, M16 with the old handguards, all say Vietnam to me. The newer canteen caps have the cap that pops open on the top so that you can plug your NBC mask "straw" into it. But yes he looks awfully clean and stupid with that barrell pointes at his head with the safety off. He probly is locked and loaded on top of that. Surely a butter-bar.

I'm willing to bet that the M16 is on 'Semi' instead of 'Safe', because the hammer has been dropped on an empty chamber.

Lawdog, You put too much faith in our VP. I, of course, am looking at through the eyes of a guy who knows how FNG's operate. I still say locked and loaded, magazine withdrawn, aimed center of mass at forehead. ;)

Did they have those little black plastic caps that cover the muzzel to keep the gunk out then?
That's a nam ear canteen? When I was in - 87, we had those canteens... in 88 I got the newer caps that had the NBC valve on them... I was front line too. I know a couple Nam guys (they had some of there old gear and I was able to look at it) and they different caps, on stainless canteens.
