Garrett Cartridges New Owner And Calibers

It's very tough on Randy, though. He had planned on building his ammo till he pretty much died.

So is he giving up the business for reasons other than simply enjoying retirement?

Health.
He didn't want to retire.

I see, I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully Mr. Emerson will run the company in a manner that Garrett approves of so that he can at least take solace in the fact that his company is in good hands.

After reading the message, I think the company will be in good hands. He seems to have quite a background. Getting new offerings can only be a good thing.

management at Cheaper Than Dirt and running a mail-order store for Cold Steel Knives
Two companies that haven't impressed me and are nothing like a boutique high end small business. I knew a lot of insurance people who started out at terrible companies putting their time in and went begging at decent companies and then did a great job though. I've always said you can learn more from working with a bad company/manager than you can from a good one.

Not really available my phone, e-mail, or text? Is carrier pigeon an option? I wonder how that will work in the long run.

Not that it affects me much. It will all be sorted before I am in the market for such ?semi-custom? loadings.

They should do some 357 magnum... only because its my favorite round.

Really I like the 45-70 ammo. I have bought more than a box in my day.

Ah.
Personally couldn't care less about his wife's business experience, I'm more concerned with his.

I've met Emerson, and he has an extensive background in firearms.
Also more than a fair amount of respect in the industry among those who know him.

I have his front sights on some of my guns.
He knows his stuff & I have no worries about the continued quality of the ammunition.

As for the loads themselves, they are expensive because they're high quality, consistent, and they perform.
My .45-70 Guide Gun that goes on high mountain ATV treks in bear country carries them, my custom Super Redhawk carries the .44 Magnums for similar duty.

If you want sheer buffalo-stompin knock 'em down & step on 'em loads in those calibers & those guns, and you can spring for the costs, they come through.

I've conversed with Randy a few times over the years. He believed in his product and that company was his life.
Both he & Emerson are good people.

One thing many don't understand is that in a small operation the more time the operator has to spend on the phone, the less product gets produced.
Go through the channels he suggests, and if you can't wait for a reply then either go elsewhere or work up your own equivalent loads, if you think you can.

Yep, he doesn't need Mr 50 questions when he already tell's you what your getting on the site.
