Garand Sling

Can anyone help me find a place where I can buy a GI issue sling for an M1 Garand? The pathetic excuse of a sling I have now does injustice to the rifle.

For 1907 replica - highly recommend turner saddlery

The "biothane" read: rubber somesuch is a great sling for real heavy outdoor use and a little more forgiving than leather.

Traditional leather are real stiff choices if you need one like that.

All sorts of colors ... the dark brown AWS only looks OK IMO but that's what is on my Garand.

The Springfield one broke a keeper on me and that is how I found the above.

*Also available on Midway et al.
No I don't work for them! Just won't put any other sling on my rifles!

If you want to shoot it, in a slung position, get the Turner NM sling. The sling keepers on the WWII type slings stretch. The best deal is a second. I bought a box of those from Turner over time, a number at Camp Perry. You have to have Turner point out the defect, to figure out what is "wrong". Most are barb wire scratches the cow got against fences. The slings I use get dark, scratched, nasty, in time anyway.

For most people a 54" sling is appropriate with a Garand.

If you do have the GI type sling and the keepers have, or are stretching, all you have to do is cut the threads on the keeper, then move the holes over/inward one hole (maybe two) from being aligned, and then restitch with dental floss. Good as new and even better. I actually do this with any new sling right off.

If You want a good one get one from Turner Saddlery I have one of their 1907 Slings and I really like it. They arent cheap but they are good.

Turner 1907 replicas are great slings. The Springfield are ok-ish, but not as high quality, IMO, especially the keepers.

I like Weller slings even more. They are very heavy. Take a bit of breaking in to soften up but wow are they nice. I have 2 which I'm sure will outlast me.
