Gap in the bottom of Pachmayr Compac grips, normal?

These grips are made for the Rossi 68, and cover the front, back, and bottom of the frame. They're one-piece, and open like a book, with the back part being solid, like the spine/binding of a book. There's a gap about 3/32" wide at the back bottom where cut that separates the sides starts. The sides don't meet at that point. The gap starts there and tapers down until it closes up about an inch from the trigger guard.

I was wondering if they're made this way, or if the holes in the grips for the locating dowels/pins on the frame need to be deepened, so the sides will meet.

Anyone had similar experiences?

i got some grips for my service six, 3 pair as a matter of fact. got 1 and it had a gap in front, bought #2 and it had a gap in back, bought #3 it has a gap at top, i finally gave up and will just use them.

Over the years, IMHO, Pac Compacs have gone to H-ll in a handbasket. Can't get a decent fit on any of my revolvers. They all have unsightly gaps. Hard to believe, but when I was still on the "Job", just about everyone used these. It's a shame, but I wouldn't think of using them anymore.

I took them off and the gap is still there with no gun. At the back on the bottom where the split starts. They feel real good, but I expected a better fit from Pachmayr.

Thanks for the replies.

Pics, please.

I have Pachmayr Compac grips on 2 revolvers. Neither has a gap, especially one that wide.
