Gamo Big cat

I have a Gamo Big Cat 1200. Purchased almost 2 years ago. The accuracy has been fine until a few weeks ago. First the reciever or whatever part of the barrel assembly closest to the trigger came out of the stock. threads on the bolt were not stripped, just came loose. Put some lock tite on and retorqued the bolt to whatever the size of the bolt was. Then I took the scope off the gun cause I needed it for another gun. Then put the scope back on and it will not hold a zero.

My question is, is there any way to accurize a pellet gun? I tried the scope many diiferent ways and that did not help. I had a good rest and only shooting at thirty yards. Tried different kinds of pellets but did nothing. IF you could help me out that would be great. Thanks

The scope rings MUST be against a rear stop or screwed directly to the receiver. all screws must be fully tightened with loctite on threads.

I went hunting with it tonight and shot six squirrels all in the head from twenty yards or less, so I guess stick to the close shots.

Springers are notorious for being "hold sensitive". Some are much worse than others. I shoot, among others, an RWS 34 which actually groups better when I shoot offhand than when I shoot from a rest. The vibrations , especially from an untuned springer, bounce the gun all over the place causing inconsistent points of impact.
I do have an RWS 460 Mag. that is absolutely not sensitive, as most of that model are not, but at roughly 2 to 3 times the cost of the GAMO it shouldn't be sensitive.
Also, if the rifle has not been fired for a couple of years, it is possible that some of the lead from former firings has oxidized in the barrel and needs to be cleaned thoroughly. Just shooting will not clean it anymore than shooting more lead bullets in a powder pistol will remove the lead build up in the powder pistol barrel. BE CAREFUL! Most less expensive airgun barrels are quite soft and can be damaged by too aggressive cleaning tactics.
DON'T use the felt pellets unless you use multiples (like 4-5) stacked because shooting only one is akin to dry firing which is a HUGE NO NO IN SPRINGERS.
If you do use multiples, BE SURE TO CHECK THE BORE to make sure all have exited. Best option, DON'T use the felt pellets!

Pellet selection is crucial. From walmart, i have tried most of what they sell. Of these, i found the crosman premier to be the most consistent even though they are among the cheaper offerings. The worst I tried were $10 per 250 compared to the $4.50-$5.00 per 500:eek: First thing i look for is consistency in the tin and second is a tight muzzle fit. If you don't have to press them in, they will be all over the paper...
