Gale was in surgery for 3 1/2 hours today. The doctor was happy about how the operation went but was unhappy to find 2 lymph nodes that were cancerous. This is not good news but it could have been much worse. The doctor said he didn't leave anything behind, meaning he was able to remove ALL the visible cancer. Gale had hoped to avoid chemo-therapy but it now looks like he will have to go through that in about 6 weeks. The good news is there are chemo regiments that are very effective
against bladder cancer but the trade off is they are very toxic and make you very sick.
Gale is resting tonight and the doctor said tomorrow will be the worst (actually he said he would feel like he had been run over by a truck). We expect to have him home in about 8 days.
The members of this group will never know how much your support has meant to Gale. He continues to be overwhelmed by how genuine your concern and your genuine out pouring of support and concern. From the bottom of my heart I want to thank you, you all have given an old man just one more reason to put up a good fight.
