I was drawn to the Firing Line when I read in rec.guns that Gale had passed on and that he enjoyed posting here. His posts at rec.guns and his few correspondences wiht me were so inspiring I wanted more.

Seaching agianst "gale" in the user name field under the art of the rifle found more of his writings and, interestingly, other's writings that are treasure.

Gale was offered the position of a moderator for the Rifle Forum - but his health prevented regular participation. Gale was a Sage.

Alot of people don't realize the depth of this websites archives

there is gold in them thar posts

if you find a really nice post in a search, give it a Back to the top post and let those words shine again

I kinda like to think Gale is moderating the forum from above

One of my main goals in life is to know as much about rifles on the day that I die as Gale Mcmillan did. But then, I always do try to set my goals beyond my reach.

I've taken the walk with Gale through his archives and am much richer for it.
There is some especially good info for those bent on "breaking in" their barrels.

After reading this I did a search of his old threads. What a wealth of knowledge! The man was amazing. I hope that someday I could know a fifth of what he knew about firearms!

Also interesting to see how some of our old members opinions have changed over time. Including myself defending the AR over the FAL a year ago. Hah! :D

I did the same kind of search a few months ago and copied almost all of the results to my harddrive. It's a true treasure.

Guess who i met tonight at the GRPC?

Rock McMillan!
We chatted for awhile about 50 cals & i told him that i met his dad here on TFL.
