Galco Pocket Protector holster for a J-frame?

Has anyone had experience pocket-carrying a two-inch J-frame in this holster, either the horsehide or cowhide version? Does it do a good job of maintaining position in the pocket and reducing printing?

I've carried my 640 .38 Special EDC in the Uncle Mike's pocket holster for years, and it's a real bargain that does the job; but I've been looking at the Galco website and eying this one, knowing their reputation for making good gear.

Also, anyone who has tried the Desantis Nemesis or Superfly, what do you think of them?

I have a DeSantis Superfly for my LCP. However I found that I don't like back pocket carry so the "fly" isn't used. Therefore, when I bought a pocket holster for my KAHR CM9 I bought a Nemesis. I am very happy with the DeSantis products. They are plyable enough to fit comfortably in your pocket, and disguise the outline of the firearm so it is unnoticable. With the LCP it doesn't matter because it is so small as to not be visible at all. But with the somewhat larger CM9 in tighter pockets there is no indication that you are actually carrying a gun. I will most likely be getting another Nemesis for my LCR revolver as well.

You might want to check out holsters by Robert Mika. He is famous for his pocket holsters for snub nose revolvers. The Nemesis is a good holster, just a step or so better than the UM you have now. Galco makes a fine product as well. All are excellent choices.

Thanks, guys. I've been looking at the Mika holsters too--it's the second choice for pocket carry, after the Uncle Mike's, of Ed Lovette in his excellent little book on the snubby revolver.

The Uncle Mike's (I'm on my just my second, I think, in over ten years with my 640) has done well, and it's certainly inexpensive, but I'm considering whether another brand might be more consistent at orienting the gun in a pocket.

+1 for the DeSantis Nemnesis...

A big +1 for the top rated DeSantis Nemesis holster. I got one thru www.natchezss.com & used it with a Taurus Ti Protector snub in 2004/2005.
The sticky material holds the weapon in place & protects it in the pocket.

I heard the Mika rig was tops too but I think the maker; Robert Mika(a ex-LAPD officer) passed away. :(
I never used a Super-Fly but Id suggest the Nemesis holster.

I don't really like the leather holsters for my region of the country because they are too hot and tend to make hold moisture from sweating. I have used the synthetics and like them much better...UM is unbeatable for price and durability.

Also, Robert Mika's website is still up...IDK if you can still get them or not, but I have seen many positive reviews about them.

I have a Galco inside the pocket holster. Been using it for about 6 years. It is still in great condition. Good quality, couldn't be happier. It is one of a few holster I paid retail and don't regret the price.

Yes. I started with an Uncle Mike's (I think) soft pocket holster and found it to be useless; the soft holster would not keep the gun in the proper position in my pocket. I then got a Bianchi rough-out cowhide holster which works perfectly. I was (and still am after about 2-3 years of carrying my S&W 36 and Taurus 85 snubs in it, that I bought another one so that I did not have to swap them out when I changed from my go-to-town and my outside around the woods and barn pants. One of the best things about the Bianchi pocket holster (besides it working well), is the price. They were $20 plus change when I bought them...not the outrageous price I have seen on other brands.

J frame pocket carry?

HI Ya, skip it, and go bare back.
I have one of those 'superfly' or something
it just adds bulk
a J frame doesnt need a holster
especially if you bob the hammer.
(here come the doubters) :D

I picked up a Superfly (for a PF9). Did not care for it. Too big, too fat.

For the J-frame I have a Mika and a Desantis Nemesis. The Mika is better, but the Nemesis is decent too.

It would depend on how big the pockets are. In dress pants they would likely be too small to let the snubbie move around. However, I only wear Cargo pants in the Winter and Cargo shorts in the warm mouths and their pockets (the "slit" pockets), are so large that the snubbie will even end up upside down if not in a pocket holster.

Andrews Holsters are works of wonder! I have one for the Nano, and am waiting for one for my new addition to the family, my spanking new, and bright S&W 638...

Videos and photos to come ... of the new member, and the holsters...
