This is purely a career move for them. Follow the money to their newly set up "Not for Profit" and see what salaries, and expenses they draw.

When dealing with politician and astronaut egos, what do you think? Many well off individuals want more, and more. Part of it is fame, part of it is economic. Just because some might be satisfied with what many consider "meager" pensions, doesn't mean they are, especially considering the circles in which they are involved.
