I'll be there Sun AM 10 - 1
c u there......

Long story short :D

It's a "vermont type carry" for the car... as of now in Ga , firearms can be carried WITHOUT permission slip in the glove compartment/ console or in open view..... This bill will allow you to carry in your automobile ANYWHERE/WAY WITHOUT a permission slip.
Argument being that you pay ad valorem (sp?) on your car just like you do your house, right?
Well, your automobile should be considered an extenson of your house. :D

I'm going to be in McDonough Sunday but I don't really know my way around. Where exactly is this thing? I go into McDonough by exit 216 (I think) off of I-75 South.

Hope to see some TFL faces at the show....

exit 221 off I75 south in McDough....

Got my paper work from CSG today:
anybody interested in some insight info on the bill , email in private nkh@wagc.com

Got the bill # and some info

I'll definitely be there sun 10-1 maybe longer, maybe there all day sat too.....

Come see me at the CSG/WAGC table, find out what's going on. help us pass this pro gun bill and join Ga's only no compromise gun org........ And Ladies come join WAGC GA.... we need the voices

let's Hang together so we won't hang alone :)

I'm a little confused about the bill being proposed and what changes it will make in Georgia state law. The current state code, since 1998 has stated as follows:

"Code Section 16-11-126 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to the offense of carrying a concealed weapon:
(d) This Code section shall not forbid the transportation of any firearm by a person who is not among those enumerated as ineligible for a license under Code Section 16-11-129, provided the firearm is enclosed in a case, unloaded, and separated from its ammunition. This Code section shall not forbid any person who is not among those enumerated as ineligible for a license under Code Section 16-11-129 from transporting a loaded firearm in any private passenger motor vehicle in an open manner and fully exposed to view or in the glove compartment, console, or similar compartment of the vehicle; provided, however, that any person in possession of a valid permit issued pursuant to Code Section 16-11-129 may carry a handgun in any location in a motor vehicle."

The way I've always read this was that as long as you could pass muster for a CCW license(and you don't need one btw..) you could hang a loaded gun from your rear view mirror if you wanted to and certainly carry one in your glove compartment or console and there's no reference to a "permission slip". This wording has been on the Georgia books since 7/1/98. Please let me know if there is more recent state legislation that's erased or changed this section and I'll stop hanging my firearms off the rear view mirror and park them in the trunk from now on....Dan in GA

Dan,

Hanging it from your rearview mirror is fine, as that is "openly exposed" and all that. (Although, if you have to brake suddenly, you might crack your skull on it....)

Georgia law does not allow, without a CCW, carrying a loaded handgun in a briefcase, pocket, holster, between the driver's seat and the door or under the seat, or anything like that. With a permit, those things are allowed.

I guess that the law change that's proposed would eliminate the need for a CCW permit to do these things. I need to write my state senator and tell him to support it (which I think he'll do anyway). Not sure about my rep's position on this, though.

Papercut's correct, Dan......

or for the ladies in a pocketbook is a no-no unless you have a permission slip. Even in open carry, an anti gun cop coild be a real horses @$$ if say a part of the firearm was covered with a towel or piece of paper or something... "sir you have a concealed weapon, do you have a permit for that CW?" Uh no sir, but it's not concealed.
Yes , sir it was , that towel/paper , whatever..... With this law they can't.

Papercut, contact me in private, I'll give you a bill #....

BTW, Dan....a CCW permit IS a permission slip. You are asking the government for their permission to exercise a RIGHT AND PAYING for it. That turns a RIGHT into a priveledge every time :D Permi (T) ssion.....

I will be at the gunshow all weekend.....

Yay me! I was right about something this week! That's a first! (If you haven't been around me all week, you have no idea how bad it's been.)

WAGCEVP, I can't e-mail you--TFL's e-mail function won't allow it, and I don't know your address. Please send me the details at papercut (at) mindspring.com (sorry about the funny way of writing it but it's an anti-spam measure--if you have trouble, post a reply here).

where do you guys find all those cool smiley face?

 :D

I sent you a private reply, if it bounces i'll reply here

BTW, you can reach me a nkh@wagc.com

:) I'm glad I checked my e-mail before turning in. I got your message, thanks. I'll start working on a letter to my reps this week.

I use the smilies at http://smilecwm.tripod.com . The site owner has oodles of smilies, and conveniently provides the UBB code for each. I mainly use the ones from the "Off the Net" sections; you can spend an hour just looking over all the ones available, and then never find the one you want (unless you print them out). There are some *really* good gun ones.
