G30 vs G36

What is the advantage of these two seperate Glock models? I know the G30 can pack 10 rounds vs the G36 packing 6 rounds. The G36 is just a little slimmer, but is the G36's slightly slimmer width worth the 4 rounds it gives up? Bottom line is, which of these Glocks would be better for CCW?

I have a G30. It is 100% reliable and accurate and fun to shoot.

However, when i try to carry it concealed, it feels like i have a brick stuck in my pants.

I am an avowed G30 fan. I carry concealed IWB with a Sidearmor holster and have no problems. For me, it is the best fitting Glock in my hand, and I have tried to subcompacts (the absolute worst) and the compact and full-size. Even though it is similar in size to the G19/23/32, it fits my hand far better--why, I don't know--I usually have trouble with wider grips.

I would only consider a G36 only if I absolutely could not carry a G30 comfortably, or if it did fit my hand (ergonomics).

I'll take my G-30 over the 36,when i've tried to dry fire the 36 i never can get a smooth trigger pull, there's always a snap that you can feel and hear. This is the only glock model i've had this problem with, new or used:(

My choice?..the G30. I've owned both and there are both positive and negative sides to both weapons. In my personal experience I've found these differences.

Carry Comfort- The G36 is the definite winner. Not only is it lighter, but it is slimmer. The difference feels like a huge one when it is stuck in your belt. And of course 6 +1 weighs less than 10+1.

Shooting Comfort- The G30 wins this one. The heavier weapon combined with a thicker grip helps to distribute and buffer the recoil a bit. In my experience, the G36 had an extremely annoying tendency to pinch the fingers. The magazine rocks back and forth under the stresses of firing the weapon, which causes the pinching. Try taking a G36 mag and rocking it back and forth and you will see what I mean.

Capacity and Aftermarket accessories.- G30 again. There are many who would argue, including myself, that if you can't get it done in 6+1 you either need to withdrawl from the fight or get a bigger gun. Still, 10+1 is more reassuring anyday. Although the aftermarket accessories are becomig more popular for the 36, the G30 still has more available. You can also get .40 Corbon or .45 Super barrels for the G30.

Accuracy- Both are the same in my opinion, meaning excellent.

Reliability- I've had nothing but excellent performance in both of the weapons.

I believe there are a few more bugs to work out of the G36, but otherwise it is a fine weapon. I just wish Glock would have put a bit more thought when designing the weapon. They could have easily made a full size grip, but instead went to the "abbreviated" grip like the G30. The reasoning for the G30 is simple. A 9 rd magazine is available to make Concealed Carry easier. Does the G36 offer a 5rd reduced capacity mag to conceal better? The last I checked...No. A full size grip would have made much more sense.

? Bottom line is, which of these Glocks would be better for CCW?

Depends on how you carry concealed. Either would work well in a belt type holster. For an IWB the G36 gets the nod. Forget about pocket carry with both of them. Want a pocket gun?...good, get a pocket sized gun. It makes no sense to carry a G36 or G30, or any other weapon for that matter just because the manufacturer says it is a "compact".

So which one is better?...You decide.
