G30 feels like a brick

I tried carrying one in an IWB holster today... and it felt like i had stuck a brick in my pants.

How do you guys carry this? I think I would have to buy bigger pants, or not breathe.

Well, if you put a brick in your pants for a week, maybe when you switch back to the gun, it'll be great by comparison ;) .....beyond that, maybe holster choice will make a difference. Might play with different cants and IWB/OWB.

That's why I purchased the Glock 36. My 30 was so thick and heavey it's too much to carry. My 30 is very accurate but it's no good at home. I bought the 36 what a difference there is no compairsion between the two I just love the 36 so much better. At Glock Talk we went over these very issues and some guys love their 30's probably because it holds more ammo. Even the extra mag is a pain to carry.

Funny thing is, Glocks kinda look like a brick as well, don't you think?? ;)

Seriously though, You will need to buy larger waist pants if you intend on carrying IWB. Gotta have the additional room for the gun and holster, ya know? (you were using a holster, weren't you??) Additionally, the holster itself has a lot to do with how comfortable IWB carry is. One holster may be the most uncomfortable thing you have ever experienced while another will almost not even be noticed once you are use to it.

The other option is carrying in a good concealment belt holster like this one:

All IWB's feel that way to me. I can't stand them. It's just my personal preference. I wish I did like them because they provide much better concealment.:(

I wear my IWB holster inside a pair of jeans that are just a little large on me. I'll tuck in a t-shirt to keep the holster from rubbing me in a rough way. I'll then tighten a belt around the whole thing. Top it off by hanging a denim shirt over the deal and you are good to go. It can get a little warm if you are working outside like that, but not unbearable. My fiance's mom swore she would never go anywhere with me if I brought a gun with. She still has yet to see my Glock and it always goes with when she takes us out for dinner. ;)

As the owner of a G30 and the identically-sized G29, I'd respectfully suggest trousers bought with toting these tubby pistols IWB in mind. :)

Had a 30 for 3 yrs. Can handle "Thick-as-a-Brick" but not w/short bbl/slide w/ long trigger guard. It wasn't reliable with some bullet profiles either. FWIW, CCW a 22 or a 21 with no problems.

Maybe you're just not used shoving anything with a little weight to it inside your pants. ;)

I would suggest the bigger pants route....the not breathing sounds too extreme an option for me. Now if it were my Mother in Law I were suggesting this to, I would definitely suggest the stop breathing part!!

You might also want to consider the Kydex (sp?) type "plastic" holsters. They are a bit thinner than leather and should help a tad bit.

Ohhh..and don't tell the guys at GT that the G30 is too much to carry...they go ballistic over that! Some of em swear that they could conceal a G30 in a shoulder holster with a tank top.

When I carry my G30...

I carry mine in a strong side carry with a SIDEARMOR OWB.

It isn't that big. I hardly notice it.

Frankly I don't have enough room in my pants for a gun.

(My wife didn't marry me for my personality ya know!)

Thanks for the advice... most of it anyway... guess i gotta get me some bigger britches!

Love that G30 though, its the most accurate gun I got

Yep, bigger pants are a must for IWB comfort. I don`t have a G30 but I often carry a full sized CZ75 or Witness 10mm IWB and I generally get my pants an inch or 2 bigger to make room for em. Something else that might help is a nice slim holster. I got to try a FIST ultrathin kydex IWB rig a few months ago and I was impressed. It made the gun feel as if there ws no holster on it at all,no added bulk at all and it was still rigid enough for easy reholstering. I plan to get a few myself when funds permit. Marcus
