G3 clones

I have been doing some research on G3 clones and have found the information dizzying. I have found that there is a 50/50 split between the opinions on the Hesse arms version. Some say that the receiver is good some say it is junk. I have also looked at the Century version but have not heard much on that. I like the Springfield SAR-8 and would think that the quality would be good. however, right now the wallet is a little slim. i unfotunatly haven't found any shops with models in store to handle personally. In my search for a cost effective G3 type/style rifle i am starting to think that you gotta spend the money to get the goods. Am I right or wrong? Whats are your opinions and or experiences. Also any bits of advice are welcome.

I owned a Century Arms clone, did'nt care for it. It threw the damn brass a mile and dented it quite a bit (pain in the a$$ for reloading). The finish on it was not durable at all and scuffed rather easily, and the sights were way off (I tried to fix them without luck).

You're better off biting the bullet and paying more for a quality gun and only crying once. Good Luck

Special Weapons ( www.specialweapons.com ) is making up one final (as they claim) batch of SW3's, which is a HK-91 clone, built on FMP receivers and using mostly new parts. They'll probably cost $1200-$1500, but they are very good.

AA-OK offered "Interport" HK-91 clones that were assembled by Special Weapons on FMP receivers and are also very nice. They cost around $1300.

The CETME (HK-91 brother) built on the cast stainless SW3 receiver is pretty good, but sight assemblies are often a bit off. These go for around $650.

You can probably find out a little more on www.hk91.com about the probems encountered with different clones.
