Does anyone have experience with these? They seem to be an inexpensive entry level battle rifle.I'm just curious if they have any problems that I should be aware of.

KPS,
I pressume you are refering to the HK-G3s with the FMP receiver that SOG is advertising for $599+ whatever will cost you if you are going through an FFL dealer. I just got mine last week. As a matter of fact, I posted "Portuguese G3 from SOG".
I must apologize for indicating on there that I had gotten 1.25" at 75 yds. I used the Vernier calipers the other day and the groups are more like .9 ctc. Oh...getting back to what you asked:
"I simply love the **** out of mine. It came with 2 spare HK-G3 mags. The finish is like a "sprayed on type" on the receiver and barrel. Although the receiver seems to be a different type of finish. It is a tough finish!. The muzzle brake works awesome. It feels like you're shooting a .243 and not a .308. I believe most parts are H&K, with just the necessary # of parts to comply with 922R (Stock, forearms, grip, cocking handle, brake, etc,,) When CAI put it together, they did an excellent job. I always wanted a G3 (HK-91) but couldn't afford $2,000 plus. Now, This is the closest I'll ever get to one. I am a happy camper!
:D :) I hope sharing my personal experience with this gun helped out.

Thanks for the response. It looks like a fine rifle and I guess I'll have to get one to find out.

Before 1986 you could get a real, select fire HK-G3 for about $1200 plus $200 tax. Now that same new G3 costs about $10,000. It's genuine, German made HK for me, or nothing. I wouldn't trade my HK-91 for the world.
