G23 or G19 instead of G36

I love my G36. I'm concerned that I'm not getting enough velocity throught the short barrel. All test speeds and stop-the-bad-guy ratings are with 5" barrels(I believe). The G23 and G19 are just about the same size as the G36(w/+1 extension)and have 4" barrels. I can't comfortably hold a g30. I own Hi caps for my g17. Now here is my question.

Do I get a G19 for mag compatability?
Do I get a G23 for more stopping power?
If I get a G23, can I get Hi caps for it?
Do I keep my g36 and just get a life?

PS: I can shoot either caliber well and intend this to be my daily CC weapon.

I own one Glock, and it's the 23. Perhaps the greatest combination of size and firepower of any gun. Yes, hi-caps are still available, and if you shop around you can pick them up for around 75 bucks.

Regarding the G17 hi-caps, they will stick out of the bottom of your 19, and you can always trade them in on G23 mags. Whether you go for the 19, the 23 or keep yours, you really can't go wrong!!!

Get the 19 you can't beat its 16 round capacity, with a rust proof finish and night sights in an extremely reliable package. Which makes it one of my favorite carry guns.

Don't give up on the G36!!!!

My G19 is right beside me as I type this. My G36 (carry gun) is in my range bag awaiting a trip to the armorer to be fitted with an extended slide release. Both are excellent weapons. However, I carry the G36 because I like the fact that the .45 makes a bigger hole going in without having to wait for the smaller caliber to expand. What I have found out with regards to ammo selection is the 185gr round has more than enough velocity going out of the short barrel to get the job done. :) Personally, I use the 185gr Remington Golden Saber.

However, if you are hell bent on carrying a 9mm, then the G19 is the way to go!!!! The G26 is a good choice too. :)

I love my 36, but if I were to give it up I would pick the 19.
By the way I get 840 with my 36 with 230 Winchester ranger Talons. If I were to carry the 19, I would pick the 147 talons, these are my choices. Also who says you need hollow point, don't you think that a 45 with 230 ball ammo will stop someone? It has for years prior to the 1980's when HP's were improved.

Thanks for the great ideas! I'm leaning towards the G19.
Can anyone out there tell me if the G19 conceals as well as the G36?

I don't care for the 36 either because you give up so many rounds just to get a slightly larger bullet. I would prefer the GLock 32 in 357 sig.

Whatever you choose, you need to believe you can stop a threat with the round. And have enough bullets to do so.

Ivanhoe something or other is where I got 4 23 mags, but they only hold maybe 13 rounds or so, I would have to check to be sure. I have yet to get a 23. :(

I have a 19, a 36 and a 22. I love my 36 with hot rounds, but muzzle flip hurts my double taps a ton. I still have more faith in it than my 19. My 22 is ok, but I left the 40 cartridge and got addicted to 10mm. Even with small hands I use the 20 and 29.

You need to have faith in what you carry. What others think is good, but what do you think. I would take my 36 and a spare mag over my 19 and a spare mag.

In the end, I like a pretty big bullet at a fast speed. The 10mm does this, but for smaller slimmer stuff I like the light 45 acp stuff at +p velovities. 185 grains I think.

If you need links for glock anything, a search on glocktalk.com will produce all the info you need in most cases.

I agree that you need to have faith in what your using. I personally would rather have 16 9mms to 7 45's. Yes the 9mms are less effective but I can put more in the bad guy with a 19 than I can with a 36. I prefer the 357 sig because it offers more power than the 9mm while only giving up 2 rounds. IF your a die hard 45 fan the 30 might be a good choice for you.

I have a 36 and a 19. If I could only have the one, it would be the 19. I have 2-15 rounders and a 17 rounder (from the 17 I used to own) and I think it's almost as small as the 36. I do love my 36 tho, and also the .45 ACP (my favorite cartridge.)
I think the 19 is my all time favorite hangun because of the firepower to size ratio that you just don't get with any other pistol.
Just load it up with +p goldots or blacktalons and it gives you a great weapon.
With that being said, I wouldn't feel undergunned with 7-200 gr. +p goldots in my 36.
But, my choice, I would prefer more rounds that my 19 provides.
