G23 firing pin

I clean my clock after every outing and perform the firing pin test. Yesterday after shooting 200 rounds, i field stripped and tested the pin as usual. This time however the firing pin would not drop through the hole when the safety button is pushed. It will move only if i move it manually. I have about 3K rounds through this gun without even a hiccup. What is causing this? Is this a problem? Thanks in advance for any advice.

You might have some oil that entered the firing pin channel. Oil and powder residue will form a sticky mess.

You can easily take the firing pin out and clean the firing pin channel with a pipe cleaner. Q tips easily loose a lot of cotton inside the channel, making it a real mess.

Instructions for detail stripping can be found on the Glockmeister website.

Have you had any "pierced" primers that might have left a small disc from the primer in the firing pin hole? In any case, you need to really clean out that firing pin tunnel, not just spray something in.

Thanks gentlemen. I stripped it down last night and found small pieces of a carbon like material in the firing pin bore. I cleaned everything and reassembled the slide. Everything is working fine now. Thanks again for the advise.
