The thread is about my experience so far with recoil springs in my G20 10mm.
First, I worked up a full throttle 10mm load that you can read about over in the handloading forum. The load generates almost 1200 fps in a factory Glock OEM barrel and 1,250 fps in my 5.3" Alpha Wolf barrel using a Nosler 200gr Jhp.
I bought a 22lb recoil spring on a stainless steel guide rod to help with the violence of the slide when shooting these loads. I also bought a muzzle compensator.
With the compensator on the alpha wolf barrel, the OEM spring/rod works and feels great. Feeds flawlessly and recoil is obviously stout, but not too bad. Lone Wolf recommends a reduced power spring when using a compensator, but with these loads, reduced power springs are not what I would recommend.
With the 22lb spring and compensator on, I get misfeeds every other round.....not good.
With the compensator off, the OEM spring makes for a stout recoil and brass thrown 20 ft away. Function is fine otherwise but beats up the gun a bit.
With the compensator off and the 22lb spring, it functions ok, but I can get misfeeds if I limp wrist it (if I try).
So right now, I'm thinking about trying the 20 lb spring. If I have to go down to 18 lbs I will, but perhaps the longer barrel, and steel guide rod compound on the 22lb spring making it too heavy to function. Since 22lbs with no compensatory is close, then 20 should be just right?
Anyway I'll update this thread once the parts arrive and I can get out and test it.
