g2 surefire flashlight mount

Does anyone use this mount to put a surefire g2 light on the extended mag tube of a remington 870 express? The mount says it will take a 1 inch light and I measured my surefire g2 and it is just a tad bigger. Thanks.

You might try a screw driver in the slot and twist to open it up a bit. Alternately you can use some sandpaper to take the offending material off the inside of the clamp. There is a product available at gun shows and gun shops that allows you to redo the aluminum after wards. I have just increased the inside diameter of my own clamps for that very reason. That, and the fact that sometimes the knurled portion of a light raises it beyond the 1" diameter. I would definitely use the sandpaper and then something to coat the aluminum again. Some people have even used magic marker to touch up aluminum after it gets marked.

I have used G2s, G3s, 6Ps, and 9Ps in all manner of light mounts labeled as using 1inch lights. Im sure it would work just fine.

I have the mount on order and it should be here anytime now. I already have the flashlight so I guess I will know soon enough. Just thought someone might have the same setup with firsthand information.

I got the mount and put it on. It would not fit the g2 surefire but I also had a 6p led and it fit it perfectly. I got to say this is one solid mount, couldn't ask for anything better. I got it positioned so when I've got the gun up and my left hand on the fore end I can push the tailswitch on the light very easily with my thumb. Shot it a few times with it installed and took it out last night to check it out. Works great.

:)Candewman, thanks for all the suggestions. I'm sure I could have worked on it a couple hours and sanded the inside like you said but since I had the 6p, I went the easy route.

I would've taken a sharp knife to the outside of the G2 to reduce its maximum body diameter rather than attempting to sand the much harder aluminum mount.
