G19 recoil spring replacement?

How often should one replace these?
I have a Ti Arotek guide rod. It came with the spring already installed? How do I get it apart to replace the spring if it needs it.

If it is a captured spring assembly you will need to take the end cap of the rod off to remove the spring. On the stock Glock assembly you must prise it off with a knife or something similar. Don't know about that particular brand. Point the Glock straight up and pull back slide about .5in. Release slide and if gun will go back into battery still pointing upward then spring is usually ok.Also watch your empty brass ejecting while firing. If it goes more than 5 or 6 feet then spring weight is usually too weak. Hope this helps you .
