And he did sign the law forbidding municipalities to sue gun makers -- most importantly, he signed the bill into law during the height of the Columbine furor. We can think of some other politicians who didn't have the stones and folded their cards after Columbine.

More importantly, he's got Cheney as a running mate -- who has been good to the Second Amendment -- and Condeleeza Rice is a close advisor to Bush. Ms. Rice's views on the Second Amendment are just to the right of Charlton Heston.
