G.I Mags 1911

I have a two G.I mags for my Colt 1911. It seem to jam on the first or second round. But it only dose it with those mags, what could be wrong.

1. Often magazines sold as "GI" aren't surplus, they are counterfeit.
2. GI magazines are set up for hardball. The different ogive and/or shorter overall length of some other rounds require the magazine to release the round sooner. Best quality commercial magazines have feed lips set up for this.
Compare the lips of the malfunctioning magazines to the lips of the magazines that do function. Hope that this helps.

The lips of a USGI magazine should curve in for just about the entire length of the lips.

There are a lot of "new in wrap USGI" 1911 magazines that are not. They are either used and refinished or not USGI.

The best magazines for JHP's depends on your pistol. Do a search on magazines for the debate. The magazines that work well for somebody else may not work in your pistol(s). To find what magazines work best for you, borrow a bunch of different ones, gather your ammo and pistol(s) and hie yourself to the range. you will have to test for yourself.
