FYI on Blazer Brass...

Went to local Wally World today and asked for Federal Blazer Brass in 9mm. They are no longer under the name of Blazer Brass, it's just Federal ammo now. Cost was $9.97 a box and the was unlimited purchase to it too. So they must of had a bunch of it along with some others in the unlimited sales sign they had posted. They also had WWB's of a 100 for $21.xx a box too. Heck with Cabela's they're 4-7 dollar higher on the same stuff.:barf:

Blazer Brass is still being made and sold.

The cheap Federal 9mm is different ammo (although pretty much the same).

Yea, I was surprised to see 20 boxes of 9mm WWB 100 value packs on the shelf after a full 24 hours, my wally world cant even keep the .22lr value packs in stock.

Must have been a pretty big shipment to be able to alocate that many 9mm value packs.

Price is 21.97, a big change from 3 years ago when they were 9.97.

Maybe or maybe not...can anyone verify this? The guy behind the counter said NO, all falls under "Federal" name now. And your right it's all under $10 their, so is there REALLY and difference in quality between Blazer Brass and reular Federal brand ammo?;) Just saying, I don't think this guy was a "dope" behind the counter.:)

FYI

Blazer (Aluminum cased) and Blazer Brass (brass cased) ammunition has always been made by CCI. Not Federal.

Quality between Federal (red box) and CCI Blazer (brass or aluminum) are about the same.

Blazer Brass and Blazer aluminum are made by CCI not Federal.

CCI and Federal are two different companies.

Federal makes American Eagle, Federal, Champion among other brands. CCI make the Blazer ammo as well as Speer Lawman, Gold Dot etc.

oops on the cci and federal then:o maybe the guy meant that "this" wally world was replacing the cci with federal and no longer ordering cci. which I dont really care though;)...I'm just thankful they had it cheap and buy as much as you wanted/needed.

Appears from the 4 WallyWorlds's I check out that they all switched their 9mm to Federal. Since they are both about the same quality it doesn't matter much. Maybe more Federal was available to them??

Guys, I noticed this about 2 weeks ago. In my opinion, the lines are getting VERY blurred. Forget what you thought you knew...

Observations: The new Federal product (Federal Champion) in Wal-Mart is specifically packaged for Wal-Mart and nowhere else, it's even got a product number that begins with "WM".

And it's now packaged in the exact same white plastic trays most recently used with CCI Blazer Brass.

Coincidence? Maybe... but now, look at those new Federal brass cartridges-- they are extruded, exactly the same type of brass that CCI Blazer Brass had been using back when Wal-Mart actually had some of them.

ATK owns both CCI and Federal and has for some time now. It's no stretch of the imagination that the product lines will eventually be streamlined. I'm not saying that CCI ammo is going to cease, or even that Blazer Brass is going to cease...

But that new Federal Champion in Wal-Mart looks to me like Blazer Brass in a Federal box, and I'd be willing to bet that ATK is simply consolidating some of their products.

ATK is a honking big corporation with their finger in a LOT of pies. In the sport shooting area alone, they own Federal, CCI, Speer, what used to be Hercules, Outers and RCBS among others. And the sporting equipment group is only a tiny slice of their pie:

yes, for target use

So it wont kill me if I am shot by it? Oh I recall getting shot with FMJ, it hurt.

Still have a small piece in my left shoulder in back.

WWB and the federal are very similiar IMHO.
